Hello to all BMW G310GS BS4 owners,
I am writing this note to share my utter disappointment with BMW India after the BS6 launch. The BS6 bike is great and very well priced, but the reason for my disappointment is that BMW India chose to complete ignore the BS4 owners, who trusted the brand and bought the bike at higher price (1 lakh INR extra).
We do not have issue with the new launch and the way its priced but what's disappointing is that the upgrades are not at all available for BS4; even after having serious issues with throttle, clutch and headlight vibrations. Only upgrades available are brake and clutch lever which costs about 8k and honestly I don't feel like spending a penny on any upgrades after ending up paying a 1 lakh extra for their pricing blunder.
It seems the company chose increasing their sales, which is fine, but dont understand why were we charged an extra lakh rupees for a lower version bike (compared to new model). I have spoken with BMW dealers in Mumbai and they have come up with this stupid analogy of mobile companies launching new models but my argument is that; I have never in my life seen any company launching newer model with upgraded features at 30% lower price than its previous model. The only reason I understand is the blunder which BMW India made by launching BS4 at a premium of 1 lakh and it indeed hampered their sales.
With unavailability of upgrades they proved that they just dont care for their loyal customers who bought BS4 even after it was over priced. With the upgrade in BS6 it is clear that BMW is aware of the issue with throttle, clutch, vibrations and headlight issues and now they simply decided to ignore us in their quest to search new customers. We cant even sell the bike as it will fetch a very low price for obvious reasons that the new bike is available for just INR 3.5lakhs, we are in for double loss.
The only thing we can now do is to start writing email to BMW India (contact-india@bmw-motorrad.in) and highlight this unfair deal. I hope if we all start writing to BMW India they will take note of our apprehension and make the upgrades available for BS4 as well for free or at a very reasonable price.
Thanks,

SoulsOfSilence you are perfectly right, what BMW is known for is their products and premium service and even after sucking a lack rupees more than rivals they are definitely not giving justice to customers. This not BMW motorrad know for.

Hi bhpian,Originally posted by SoulsOfSilence View PostIt seems the company chose increasing their sales, which is fine, but dont understand why were we charged an extra lakh rupees for a lower version bike (compared to new model).
I understand your pain, but let me tell we as automobile and tech enthusiasts should know better.
Automobiles are depreciating asset, the day it comes out of the showroom it looses 10% of its value.
Same with electronics gadgets and phones, the more you wait the better features you get for same price.
Offtopic Example: Relame launched Realme 5 pro for 16K, the under 6 months launched Realme XT with Amoled and under display finger print for 17K. More than 3lakh of Realme 5 pro was sold in that 6 months, all those buyers were fooled with a better model launching in under 6months
The more you wait, the tech gets cheaper and you get better product for same price. Every year a new iPhone/Samsung S series phones launches at ₹1L and by the end of 6months it'll available and discounted for ₹70K during sale and by 2nd year it'll be around ₹59K. Does that mean Apple/Samsung cheated those people who bought the phone at ₹1L without any discounts on Day 1?? They got the pleasure of being the 1st, and thats the extra they paid for that, which they are well aware off and they dont complain.
Everyone knows if they had waited for long, they could've got the same phone cheaper with discounts and cashbacks! But they don't wait because they wanted the best at that point in time.
Same goes for anything, say for marriage, if one had searched and waited more time he'd got a better girl and married to her than current wife, "Only if he had searched more and waited more".
I always recommend that look at a automobile/tech for what it is/was at point of time and it was the best choice at that point in time.
The same reason I always recommend to stay away 1st batch or 1st MY of products, you'll be a beta tester. Be it cars, bikes, phones.
Kawasaki did it with N300R almost 1.2L price cut, Yamaha did it with R3 60K price cut in 2nd model, XUV300 reduced the price by 70K and added better tech, Polo launched a turbo engine for same price of older non turbo model.
So, to conclude enjoy your machine. Ignore the haters. You loved it at the time you got, so continue to do the same, there will hotter, better, cheaper things in market always, but put a blind eye to those and love your bike for what it was when you got it and why you choose it.
Happy rides!Last edited by kiran2508; 02-20-2021, 01:19 AM.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Dear kiran2508 you made a good point that newer buy first batch vehicle's but sometimes they are the luckiest one (imagine the first gen hayabusa 1995 customers), other than that is completely out the box. What BMW ask for extra money is for premium service that means if even slightly small defects/issue's they have made (by workshop or company) they have to correct it, they called it service measure. Now I will explain what does that mean is, when any manufacturer launch their vehicles in the market then if same type of defects/issue's found by various users. Then they will rise a ticket which takes input from all the workshops. As this vehicles are in warranty they have to correct it for free. If this is related to violation of govt. Noms they have to correct it any time (age of the vehicles does not matter).
Now what issues facing by 310 users will get solved if they start to rise complaints, company is ready to listen(as they have maintain they image) only if noise is enough high.
now This does not matter if pay extra or less only brand matters.Last edited by Vishal Wagh; 02-21-2021, 02:13 PM.

BMW Motarrad India had a thicker skin than rhino and nothing will make any dent. And the cake goes especially to the BMW Bangalore Dealer. We have tried different means of raising this concern over spares, service, quality, etc with no end result. The only thing we can now do is to start writing email to BMW India (contact-india@bmw-motorrad.in) and highlight this unfair deal. I hope if we all start writing to BMW India they will take note of our apprehension and make the upgrades available for BS4 as well for free or at a very reasonable price.
On the price cut on BS6 models, to begin with, we knew the 310 twins were over priced when launched and it was our choice to buy it or not. SO cant complain to BMW for reducing price on the new model. Its their strategy and legally they have all right to do so. Yes, morally its a different story and i am sure would have generated a lot of negative imagery for the brand. Personally, i will mostly never buy another BMW on two wheels..
