    First and foremost royal enfield is not a insurance company, they don't have a insurance policy of their own, what you get with your bike from the showroom is a dealer provided insurance in which they have a big fat margin.

    There's no difference between getting a insurance from the showroom or on your own, once the bike is sold you have to deal with service center and the insurance provider on your own.

    So get the insurance from outside and save some money, check on policybazaar and compare the prices with the dealer quotation.

    Completely agree with that. Ducati is an exotic brand and their machines are known to have their own quirks. If dependability and minimal ownership costs is what you are looking at then go for GT 650 or Interceptor. Now is the right time to go for pre owned ones as people are considering selling their bikes due to the lockdown restrictions. Ducatis are known for heating issues as well. The Twins in this respect are tried and tested. Hence you cannot go wrong.

    Finding a ducati in a good condition at a price of a new continental gt 650 sounds difficult, but maybe you might get lucky.

    But purchasing an expensive bike which is out of warranty and specially a ducati which has super expensive spare parts, is a pure gamble. Go with the purchase only if you know the owner personally and you know how he maintains his bike.

    The only reason I suggest a used gt is because the bikes are still in warranty and you can further increase it upto 5 years. Plus the parts are cheap comparatively..

    Was in Delhi for quite a bit...have shifted out last year. Eventually will return after this pandemic is under control.

    I have thought of used RE as well, would not be a bad choice. Have seen some on OLX as well.
    So let me check out those as well if I get a mint condition bike, would definitely save me some bucks.

    I see you are from Delhi, my advice would be to buy a used gt 650 from olx, there are some bikes in mint condition and very less run, plus all of them are in warranty and you could get it extended as well. After a month you can't even tell the difference between a new and a used one.

    But if you find a ducati then that would be the best

    Update: I am about to return back home in a weeks time. Have been dwelling deep into reading about cafe racers. Now the confusion has set in between 2 bikes. Im not sure if they are comparable....first being Continental Gt and the second Ducati scrambler cafe racer. I am hoping to find a sweet deal on a used Ducati scrambler cafe racer and of course I like that bike more than RE.
    Price point is an issue, but if I get lucky in finding a used one closer to RE I am planning to get it......Of course condition of the bike considered.

    Any thoughts on the above?

    You are absolutely correct, I appreciate your input. I am not planning to do any long rides with this helmet, just to add to to it I do have full face helmets as well for long rides. This I bought just for the looks of it and occasional cafe rides. I am not planning to do any fast rides with this on...never!!
    Anyways even if I would want to return it I cannot as I bought it from Singapore and we are not going back there.

    I agree that using full face helmet really helps you in any damage occurs while riding. We never know what can happen while riding on road. On my last trip Towards South some stones came down and it hit my helmet. Thanks i was wearing full face helmet that helped my head and face from damage. As I'm using this Bell helmet from many years I would suggest to buy a full face rather than half face helmet.

    This is my personal suggestion as for using full face rather than half face helmets

    Depends on the distance and the road conditions as well, during one ride which was 150 kms one side there was a lot of broken roads, diversions and involved a lot lot of braking, i had back, neck and arm pain for some days.

    Whereas during another ride which was of 280 kms, but involved only highways i had no problem whatsoever apart from the super wind blast.

    It is perfectly fine as long as you can cope up with the riding position. It might be too aggressive for long distances...

    Your are correct, this is to protect your face from debris and bugs on the road, it will not take any impact.
    I just bought it for city use in summers, cafe ride only
