The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Thanks a lot for the approval!

      Here is my ownership experience:

I have been riding the Platina 100cc since the last one year. I have covered 28933 km as of now. I bought the bike due to its good mileage because I tour a lot and cannot afford to spend more money on petrol since I am a student.

Well, the bike has never disappointed me. I rode on good roads, bad roads and no roads at all. I rode it continuously for more than 6 hours, 800 km in a day but still the bike didn't show any signs of fatigue. Rode it in heavy rainfall, on sand, mud, etc. I have clocked 110 km/h on it twice(was very difficult). It can go till 105 km/h with a pillion. I tested the mileage several times and got a good average of 90 km/l while riding in the city. The max which I could extract out of my bike was 100 km/l while riding in the city.

Talking about the bike, the seating position is really good for both the rider and the pillion. The engine is very smooth and silent. It is more powerful than the other 100cc bikes in the market and also offers a better mileage as compared to them. It is easy to maneuver the bike in traffic due to its light weight. It has got a tank capacity of 13 liters so one doesn't need to fill petrol very often. The headlight is good. The horn is loud enough. The bike has got a fairly good pick-up according to its capacity. Since it has got 4 gears, one doesn't need to change the gears very often in traffic. It can pick up from 15 km/h on the 4th gear.

These are the maximum speeds which I have done on it

      1st gear: 25 km/h
      2nd gear: 55 km/h
      3rd gear: 85 km/h
      4th gear: 110 km/h

The thing I don't like about the bike are the brakes. Since it has drum brakes, sudden braking is a problem sometimes.

how could a 100cc bike with 8.2 bhp can reach speed of 110kmh? i myself rode a freind`s platina and could only reach 92 kmh with a pillion while ct100 clocked 96 on speedo(solo ride same day) . i think maximum speed that 100cc could clock is 98kmh . otherwise there is fault of over optimistic speedometer

With lightweight rider & pillion & with speedo error it easily can

Platina is a nice VFM bike afterall.

I have it since 5 years and done 28,000 KM, however, the max. speed I ever acheived is 95 KM/hr. That too with the help of a little downward slope due to overbridge on highway. I can't beleive it can ever reach 110. Company claimed top speed is 87. Must be a speedo error.

Also the FE that I get is around 65-70Km/l. This is what most of the other guys get whom I know own the same bike. Now this can't be a speedo error. BTW how do you calculate FE?

Just wonder Do you work for Bajaj???

My dad's 2005 model CT100 (with the same platina engine) clocked 93k and when complained of slow pickup, workshop recommended a Cylinder change along with engine reset work. Costs around 6k, i am told. Is this normal?

I'd suggest that you try to tune your Carb. instead. May be your bike is running on a too lean mixture resulting in slow pickup. you can search the posts here to know about how to tune your bike.

                        bought a platina 100

hi guys on 13th of june I got platina 100.till now I have clocked 618km and given it for first servicing.till now the mileage was around 62-63 which I expect to increase after 2nd servicing.
I have some queries.does this bike has oil filter and the service interval is given at 4000km which I think is undigestable.and how does the bajaj dtsi oil runs.

My dad has a platina 100 from the past five years and has clocked 58k kilometres. I've tested the mileage every single time i've ridden it and it's always above 65kmpl and about your mileage, it's definitely going to increase after second service. I say this because my dad's bike used to return an amazing 90 kmpl for the first three years, at speeds varying between 30 to 50.. and yes, bajaj engine oil works just fine for platina, but after all your services, you may consider going for motul semi-synthetic. Makes the ride super smooth as i've experienced and about the oil filter, i don't know, experts please advice..

ranges from 65 to 75 kmpl dude, nowadays i'm using it too, and i mostly ride above 45 or 50 kmph. If ridden or used like a normal commuter bike (like my dad does) it returns around 70 to 80 kmpl..
