BTW how much did it cost for rebuilding the engine ?
Done it from ASC or outside mech?
Outside mechanic. He said, if the original engine lasted 1L km for you, then the new cylinder kit will last about 75k km.

    It costed 6k.

There was this bearing noise at idling speeds and upon opening the engine, could see cylinder scoring lines, this on the piston too.

Mechanic advised crank bearing change, new cylinder kit, new valves, new clutch. Estimated 8k.

By the way, engine has done 67k after the first rebuilt. So it's done 1,60,000 km totally.

      What do you guys think?

        Platina 100es review

Bought a platina 100es for my Dad on 7 october 16. One day before the auspicious day when modi demonetize 500-1000 notes and made india a black money free country.
Orignal plan is to buy cd 110 dx self start version even the papers are also readied by showroom manager, test drive done by my father. Suddenly my father asked the national question "kitna deti hai" manager replied 74. My dad got angry he said bajaj qoute 104kmpl for platina then people says they get around 75 what will honda owners get...... 45kmpl huh.... Get off my way to a bajaj showroom.
OMG.. such a love to the favourite question of INDIA can't beleive my eyes.
So we got to the bajaj showroom paid the amount in cash took the keys back to home SIMPLE.
On my way to home i realised that this is not the same platina which we used to have 3-4 years back my god what a anti stall feature of the engine at very low speeds of 05 kmph in first gear.

        PROS

        1. Anti stall engine
        2. Very wide torque band.
        3. Excellent comfort at all speeds.
        4. Suspension so big they don't bottom out even with 190kg on board.
        5. Fuel efficiency
        90 @45kmph
        83 @50kmph
        72 @60kmph
        64 @70kmph

        6. Probably Longest seat of two wheeler on any Indian production bike.
        7. Comfortable handle footpeg geometry even for 6'3 person (myself)
        8. Cornering stability, flickability better than Hero, tvs but little less than Honda dream series.
        9. Longest service interval of 5000km, oil change@10,000km comparable to modern cars.
        10. Tank range of 800-850km (Delhi- srinagar)
        11. Bright Headlight spread.
        12. Ground clearance 210mm.

        CONS:

        1. Image of entry level cheap motorcycle.

Ownership: Till date 14000km ridden in just 8 months of time 50% highway 50% city.
        Overall satisfaction 9/10.
Highly recommended to all the aspiring bikers.

Well I am writing this after a very long time. My bike completed 90000 km two months ago. Other than changing the consumable items I have not spent a peeny on engine work. Some of the items changed are:
          chain sprocket set- 60000 km
          rear tyre- 34000 and 75000
          front tyre- 73000
          clutch cable- thrice
          brake cable- twice
brake shoes- umpteen number of times
          kick spring- 91000 km

Tappets need to be set after every 20000 km so as to maintain compression and mileage per litre. I think it may cross 100,000 km this year itself. Mileage is hovering around 60-70 kmpl right now.
