I ride apache rtr 160, 34k kms on the odo..
I'll be riding to Leh this year and wanted some help from guys who have got leh'd on the apache..
Any problems faced due to high altitude?
How was the overall performance?
Any suggestions/ warnings/ information will be appreciated..

Help me decrease the noise in my RTR 160 !

Hey guys when i turn my bike's handle to the right and play the handle as shown in the video,
i hear some noise and that noise is increased when i apply clutch.Recently the steering balls,
cone set washers were replaced,so is it the noise of those replacements?Is it normal?
Please help me out.

Yesterday, a weird thing happened to my 160...when i started my bike,it began it's usual self test & the needle kinda got hanged at redline rpm while the digital screen showed everything even when the key was removed. so i opened the battery cover & disconnected the wire with connectors next to battery & voila, the console was back to normal.So, is this something serious as i had just kept the bike in sun for sometime in college & i am also close to the first servicing & am going to give it to TVS SVC people soon.BTW what all changes/things need to be on first servicing including oil change, clutch tightening(my clutch seems to be little loose), air filter change, brake oil,etc ?

Hi Xbhpians...Recently it started raining in Bangalore, that the idea of changing my stock tires had started brimming up in my mind...Ok I know there is a separate tire section thread in xbhp, but I wanted to hear it directly from RTR guyz who actually use the tire models which I'm looking for...It might be a re-opening or redundant query but please bear with me & I'm waiting for your valuable feedbacks & suggestions which will be really helpful for me...


Now to the query part, my steed is RTR-Hyperedge & have been running on stock tires for more than 21k in odo...
I have almost decided on the front tires which will be MRF-Zapper-FS (MRF Zapper FS 90/90-17) after so much of searching in xbhp.
Now the rear tires is something I'm bit confused. As you know RTR-HE-160 rear rim size is 18'. So not much of options unlike 17' ones.
I'm happy with the stocks in dry conditions but I have had so much of scary moments in wet conditions that I'm forced to change my stocks even though the threads are still good & can run for another 10k. But now that I'm recently married I cant take that extra risk because I have a pillion rider most of the time.


I'm looking for 100/90-18 profile which will save our life in wet conditions.


I have kept a few options depending on the availability part.
1. Zapper Y -> MRF Tyres
2. Zapper Q -> MRF Tyres
3. Zapper C -> MRF Tyres
4. MoGrip-Meteor -> MRF Tyres


Here Zapper Y costs around 1900/- tubeless & MRF showroom guyz suggest this over others.
They say zapper-q (rs. 2300/-) is good only on highway roads & is not that good as promised by MRF based on the feedback they got from customers..
No one suggested zapper-c (almost same price as zap-q) but seeing the tire-grooves design I felt it would do better than zap-y because zap-y is almost flat design on the center part of the tire making me doubtful how good it will be in wet conditions. Also one of my firend who uses unicorn said their stocks are zapper-y & is not good. He suggested to go for stunner stocks which I dont know what model it is. But again tire works differently for each bikes. That's the reason I prefer hearing from you guyz.
MoGrip(around same price as zap-Y but not tubeless) is good but will effect my mileage, acceleration & gear ratios as its heavy.


I'm sure most of u guyz would have tried any of these models sometime in your riding career.
So, please do help me to make a good decision with your valuable insights on experience by using them.



Are you using stock tires??? Normally for me it goes the other way. Like if I put above the standard pressure my bike wobbles more. I mean kind of bumpy.

Hey guys if the front tyre air pressure of my RTR 160 is 33-36,the handle wobbling stops,
but if its kept to normal that is 25-28,the handle wobbles.The svc people checked the fork,
front wheel and replaced the Steering balls,cone set washers and fork oil seal and done the
alignment-everything is alright.But i should keep the air pressure of front tyre 33-36 which is
very high for the front according to me,if its reduced less than 33-36,the wobbling starts.Please help.

As i had posted my handle wobbling problem and fork noise in my Apache RTR 160,
The problem is rectified and the front fork is been replaced by the SVC people,And
further informed me that if other parts worn will be changed under warranty if those
are claimed under warranty or i need to pay for the spares.So anyone please let me
know the list of spare parts covered under warranty.

Is the toolkit not available as a spare in your showroom?
Anyway, here are the tools,
1. 14+17 mm regular spanner
2. 10+12 mm regular spanner
3. 16mm spark plug spanner
4. A flat head + star screw driver
5. A 22/23 mm tyre removal spanner(not sure about the size)
6. Rear suspension adjustment tool with holder
