      WSBK Ducati ready to rumble!

      Source :

      Video: Ducati 1199 Panigale RS13

Checa talks about the Panigale. Google translated version taken from Checa: Panigale, una doppia sfida

Carlos Checa to 40 years starts from zero, or nearly so. The only thing that will remain the same in 2013 and he will be the brand name written on the tank , when I do note he laughs, " it is true, new bike, new team and also the direction of the league . " For Spanish will not be an easy task to repeat the success with the new Panigale against the army 4 cylinders. It does have a great experience, in addition to speed, but this time it will not be a walk and the first to be aware of is he.
For next year, we expect many new, how do you feel?
" There will be many changes, but we will adapt. I think it will be a very big challenge because we are facing not only a motorcycle but in a completely different project , from the engine to the chassis. There are innovative solutions such as the lateral shock absorber, I do not say that starting from scratch, but we have to learn a lot. The only way is to work , understand the difficulties, as with any new bike. We have to walk miles and grow to understand where we can go . "
Your first time on Panigale did not go well, how it has changed in Jerez?
" At Misano I expected more , the bike was a bit 'but turned it still had many faults. After improved a little ', the last test in Jerez I was able to drive it a bit 'better, but we are still far regarding lap times . We have to work on certain aspects of the bike, but at the same time I see that there is a high margin of improvement. limits audibly and the engineers know where to focus . "
What do you expect the first race of 2013?
" This is not a motorcycle ready to be brought to the race , let alone win, and already able to do this will be a satisfaction . It will become a winner then an enormous satisfaction. Now I expect the bike to grow with me and the team, form a group and work together in the most effective way . "
      Where can I get there?
" I think the potential of this bike is high, can reach the level of the enemy, but we start from a point much farther . Our rivals are working on their bikes for years and starting from a well known. We have a double handicap, for me it will be a challenge both sporting technique and will be satisfied with some good results. I'm realistic, at the beginning it will be difficult but our thought is to fight for the top positions as soon as possible . "
How do you feel with the new team?
" I just did a test and a half, almost, but the mechanics are experienced and we have adapted well. I will continue to have my race engineer Mark Losei and my telemetry Marco Frigerio , otherwise I think they are all in a good level. B apt is a very expert with extensive experience in the league and the people who work with him is very capable, we'll be a good group . "
The good news is that you will not have the 6 pounds of weight on the bike.
" Add us of pounds decision was more political than technical , taken by our opponents. In 2011, the first Ducati finisher was mine, having won the championship, but the second came 9th in the league. Ducati was not an advantage, we were to have worked better. But I could break a finger to make me go slower, but add weight was the same thing from my point of view . We only did a great job, about the group and a bike that was very good . "
This decision as it has influenced your last season?
" This year, six kilos of ballast, the increased power of the other bike and tires are made to benefit the 4-cylinder are all things that they put out of the game . I made some mistakes and I will not hide them, but when you're put in a situation so hard to go wrong is much easier . "
This is the first part of the interview with Carlos Checa, tomorrow the second of which will discuss the future of SBK.

        Checa: serve spettacolo non tecnologia

Checa says that expensive technology not required in wsbk. Translation using google translate -

What do you think will happen?
"I spoke with Carmelo and his idea is very good. Not only the Superbike world championship, also in MotoGP will change enough. I think the world of the bike for teams and drivers is a good thing. Now you are trying to reduce costs, have bikes and riders on the track is always more difficult, you spend too much, both in MotoGP and World Superbike. If you can find the right balance between the technical and physical level the show will increase and there will be more participants. In addition, all drivers will be able to earn, while now there are many who do not. It will be a more democratic world, especially at a time of crisis like this. "
Do not run the risk of putting a limit to technological research?
"I do not think the bike will face real technological research, it is a small world, than the car, aviation or medicine, for example. In those fields you do real research, the bikes are mostly show and you have to respect that balance. At this time the technology and the economy have destabilized the sport. "
In 2014 you still on track? Do you ever think to stop, as did Biaggi?
"Every year I consider the withdrawal consider it as a possibility, but until I stimuli, motivation and pleasure I will try to ride the bike, I will continue. This year, the stimuli are many, I feel good, they are still others who are calling me and I have the energy to continue. What can I ask for? ".
Maybe a nice gift under the tree at Christmas.
"I have my own philosophy of life, every year there is some challenge in my world. When I look to the future I think logically to win, to get results, but at the same time trying to figure out how to improve myself as a person and as a rider. This is my personal challenge and an incentive to do things the best way and feel good. Under the tree I would always have something to do, this year I have a goal, now I have to put my to grow. "

New promoters and managers of WSBK, Dorna are planning to scrap the superstock classes come 2014. These include both the Superstock 600 and Superstock 1000. WSBK management had recently been handed over to Dorna from the Flamini brothers. Dorna is trying its best to improve the visibility of Motogp, even at the expense of WSBK.

India's World Superbike round at the new Buddh circuit has been pushed back to November 17 and becomes the series' final round instead of Jerez in 2013.

A number of problems have cropped up, not least that it would appear the organisers are simply not ready to host WSBK yet, and lengthy customs processes are not helping matters.

It now means that WSBK will directly follow F1 at the track, which can't be good for attendances, and there will be another huge expense to fly all the teams halfway back across the world for one race instead of stopping in on the way back from Phillip Island.

"The World Superbike race in India has been moved from the 10 March to the 17 November due to an insufficient period of time to properly finalise the training of the marshals and medical staff around the racetrack. FIM representatives will be at the Indian track on 19, 20 and 21 this January, in order to carry out the final racetrack homologation and provide the relevant seminars about the different aspects involved in the sporting organisation of the event," said a man in an FIM vest.
