Aprilia's RSV4 does a clean sweep in the opening round at Philip Island, Australia. The first race went to the three Aprila's of Sylvain Guintoli, Eugene Laverty and Michel Fabrizio. It also saw Carlos Checa having a massive accident on his Ducati Panigale. He suffered a minor concussion as a result of the crash.

In the second race, pole position Checa was not present due to the accident. The race started with Guintoli leading and he led till the penultimate lap, when Laverty made a clean pass on his teammate to take his first win of the season. Marco Melandri took third spot on his BMW. Out of six podiums of the two races, 5 were taken by Aprilia riders!

That Yamaha R6 is completely missing the straight line speed to Kawasaki's ZX-6R ... Lowes is very competitive in other parts and missing out completely in the straight line because of the lack of speed

BMW pleased with their testing at Jerez -

Positive test for BMW Motorrad GoldBet at Jerez

                      Chaz Davies

"We accomplished a lot of work over the last two days, and it was a very productive test. We fully focused on working on the electronics and tested a lot of new strategies. It was really interesting and we came up with solutions that have a lot of potential. There is some more work needed but we have another test in a couple of weeks. I think all was very positive, everybody has worked well and I am reasonably happy."
                      Marco Melandri

"My recovery is proceeding well and according to plan. I am training in the pool and - carefully - in the gym. Overall, I am satisfied. Some movements that caused pain before the surgery are no longer a problem. I still have some bone pain, but that is normal after the operation. Now I have to work on fully recovering the joint and the muscle tone. Yesterday I had an ultrasound examination and a visit to Dr. Porcellini, and he was positive as well. Unfortunately I could not join the team for the tests but we are regularly in touch so I was constantly updated on how the tests proceeded and which solutions they were finding."

Dorna organisers of WSBK worried about Indian Customs for the November Round.

                        Javier Alonso, CEO, WSBK -

"The Indian Round is the most complicated one we have on the calendar in terms of custom clearance, but we are working with the local agents in cooperation with the circuit owners (Jaypee Group) to find out the most suitable way to enter the country,"
Jaypee Group on the other hand are sure that the problems will be sorted out, since they have a better understanding of the work processes in India.

                        Jaypee Group -

"The management is yet to take a call on the customs issue, but it should not be a problem. Not for nothing we have successfully staged two F1 rounds. We have also paid the licensing fee to the WSBK organisers and are looking forward to hosting another big event,"

                          Loris Baz -

"We worked very well during the winter. Kawasaki have done a great job, the fork I'm using now gives me a much better feeling at the front. This was our biggest problem, but now I can push without ending up making mistakes."
"I just need to be consistent and to avoid crashing so much as I did last year. If we keep doing our job the right way as we did in winter testing I'm sure the results will come."
"The relationship with Tom is excellent, we share our data and talk a lot. The problem is that our riding styles are completely different. That's why it was so difficult last year to find a proper set-up, we couldn't rely on his so we had to find our own settings for the bike. It took a bit more time, but we're heading in the right direction now."
"In Phillip Island Race 1 I showed I could battle at the front after moving off well from the grid. A good starting position would help me keep up with the leading pack without forcing my way through in the early part of the race. The Aragon round will tell how much we have improved, as in testing we struggled a bit finding the right set-up for this very track."

                                Davies -

"I think it comes hand in hand with getting the right opportunities at the right time. There were parts of my career when my results were not the best but I felt like I was doing all that I could. No doubt I'm still improving but also the time when you can smell a victory brings out the best in everybody. If you're doing your best and this translates into good results, I think that's a different incentive because you can actually show what you can do."
"It's early days yet, but we will test again next week in Jerez and from what I've seen so far it looks like a good step forward. We will see in Aragon. I did all the work I could during the two days and the guys have some time to analyse the data to further improve the bike."
