Re: MotoGP 2016 Season - Updates!
Scott Redding is shining already on Pramac Ducati.
Timings from WSBK test at the same venue
Rea and Sykes are already doing low to mid 1.39's. Thats quicker than most MotoGP riders. Rest of the pack isn't far behind either. Those bikes are pretty darn quick man...Pos No Rider Bike Series Time Diff Prev 1 66 Tom Sykes Kawasaki ZX-10R SBK 1:39.313 2 65 Jonathan Rea Kawasaki ZX-10R SBK 1:39.524 0.211 0.211 3 12 Xavi Fores Ducati 1199 R SBK 1:40.148 0.835 0.624 4 69 Nicky Hayden Honda CBR1000RR SBK 1:40.193 0.880 0.045 5 7 Chaz Davies Ducati 1199 R SBK 1:40.774 1.461 0.581 6 34 Davide Giugliano Ducati 1199 R SBK 1:41.152 1.839 0.378 7 2 Leon Camier MV Agusta 1000 F4 SBK 1:41.219 1.906 0.067 8 99 PJ Jacobsen Honda CBR600RR SSP 1:42.292 2.979 1.073

Those times were done on qualifiers. A different ball game entirely!Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostRea and Sykes are already doing low to mid 1.39's. Thats quicker than most MotoGP riders. Still that kind of timing is impressive. Nothing to take away from them. Race pace is a different ball game, and this kind of timing surely makes it more exciting.
Cant wait for the season to begin, with Ducati's in form. Any idea why Yamaha's are absent from the tests. They weren't that impressive during the test in Valencia.

It is not about race pace and qualifying pace, it is qualifying tyres, which last one lap or max two. I quote the relevant information here -
Yamaha chose not to test here with their factory riders, as factories have limited number of private test days in a year. 5 if i am not mistaken. Yamaha would rather use it next year mid-season. Honda used it and wasted a lot of time, as their staff was still figuring out how to use the electronics, which meant that Marquez and Pedrosa were sitting in their garages twiddling their thumbs for far more time than they would have liked! These test times are very deceptive, especially as the MotoGP riders were never really going for a fast time, but concentrating on working with used tires. The WSBK guys threw in qualifying tires to get their fast times, a very different kettle of fish indeed.
Whether Yamaha's or Honda's strategy is better, only time will tell.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Re: MotoGP 2016 Season - Updates!
Well, that explains. Any idea when was the last time SBK's posted this kind of timing with Qualifying tyres? That should give an idea about their performance now. Having said that WSBK has very fast riders now. Only if all the races were available in India, weekends wouldn't be boring waiting for MotoGP.Originally posted by The Monk View PostIt is not about race pace and qualifying pace, it is qualifying tyres, which last one lap or max two. I guess, Ducati is the team to watch out for next season. Their efforts in supporting Satellite and Open teams will be paying dividends next season. They have got lot of data, and all their riders seemed to be comfortable with the new spec-software and Michelins. They also have Stoner by their side, what more do they need to win a season

Again very difficult to compare, because at Jerez where they were testing, times are much faster in the winter tests than the actual race.Originally posted by chinmayakar View PostWell, that explains. WSBK has always had fast riders. Though a good measure of how fast will be Nicky Hayden's performance in WSBK vis-a-vis MotoGP. Though even that is difficult considering he was riding a Open Honda in MotoGP, one of the worst bikes on the grid and will be riding a Honda in WSBK, one of the worst bikes on the grid!Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Agree with you on Hayden's part. Worst bike in MotoGP and worst in WSBK. Really want to see a fight in MotoGP involving Ducati, Honda, Yamaha and Suzuki. Got to see what Sepang Test has in store before we can get an idea.
