I'm not aware of. Initially, they all pointed at Michelin. But, sources say that some of the slowest teams are running dangerously low tyre pressures for extra grip.

And yet the tyre pressure is checked and regulated by Michelin engineers in every team.

It is rather terrible when you are supposedly at the most happening place of Indian motorcycling - The Auto Expo and rather than caring about the bikes being launched, I was continuously checking Twitter for updates of the Sepang Test.

Honda can be competitive this year if they can resist the temptation to built most powerful engine.

Testing gets off to a very wet start at Phillip Island for the MotoGP boys. Aprilia is skipping this test as their bike is not yet ready

A short excerpt from the full article -

                    Old dog, new tricks

There was no fixed program as yet for Rossi to work with Cadalora, but the objective was to "try to understand if he can give to me some advice," said Rossi. It is yet another wrinkle in Rossi's career, and a key to his strength as a rider. The Italian enters his seventeenth season in the premier class, and has only remained as competitive as he is by constantly adapting and reinventing himself. Rossi has changed riding style, training regimes and training techniques, and has done everything imaginable to try to remain at the front. His openness to new ideas and willingness to learn is a mark of the intensity of his desire to win. The humility required to always strive to improve is a mark of Rossi's greatness as a rider, and a key reason for his longevity.

Good result for Suzuki, especially Vinales. The new tyres seem to work well for them. I hope he's up there fighting for the podium this year. Would make it a lot more interesting especially with Iannone up there too. Good to see 4 manufacturers up there instead of just the regular 2.
But Philip Island is very different to the rest of the tracks and specially with such variable weather conditions, these tests may be raising false hopes. We will see!

I think Lorenzo made a very important point during the PI test. Every track be a new study in itself and whichever team adapts fastest will win. With two new variables, the electronics and the tyres to figure out, the first half of the season might be quite interesting.

Re: MotoGP 2016 Season - Updates!

Last year after the 1st three races, Lorenzo stopped trying the new setup every race (based on the feedback HR got from the off season testing) and went back to the race setup, his team had used in previous year's race for the particular track. He will then use the next three days to improve/work on it. Since, the M1 characteristics, didn't change much, it makes sense and he was able to win 4 consecutive races. The downside to that strategy was, he cannot adapt to the changing conditions in the track and since VR46 tests various setup during the race week and prepare for race day, he is more adaptable than lorenzo.

This year will be pretty interesting, as many variables changing, previous year's race setup cannot be used as a Base setup. Adaptability, also plays a very important role.

Maverick Vinales ended fastest man on track after the 3 day test. And what fantastic times set by Loriz Baz and Hector Barbera on their ancient 14.2 Ducatis. Consistent lap times and not one off fast times. Incredible.

This season will surely shake something up in MotoGP. Don't know what

                              ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Also Casey Stoner might test at Qatar with the rest instead of a private test only.

And Danilo Petrucci broke three bones in his hand at PI, might not be ready to race at the season opener at Qatar, if so then Michele Pirro will be replacing him.

Re: MotoGP 2016 Season - Updates!

After a good weekend of racing in WSBK at Phillip Island it is back to MotoGP

Lorenzo found his Mojo and Michelin grip to top the timesheets again convincingly on the first day of testing at Qatar. Maverick is really coming into his own as he was second and best of the rest. How good he is riding is evident from the fact that his teammate who isn't a slouch himself was in 11th. Rossi once again is at the pointy end of things and is the only rider who has been in the top 3 at all three testing circuits in 2016. His consistency might get him the 2016 championship!

Hondas are suffering, Crutchlow ended fastest Honda in 8th. A bit alarming. Iannone finished as the fastest Ducati in 4th.

Interestingly all three manufacturers experimented with winglets at Qatar.

Here is an interesting video by Forward Racing using their Moto2 riders. Seeing them out on track, we kind of forget how young they are
