However, said that, there are not many bikes in the market today that have had any tweaks....

Pulsar 150 has had only 3 engine upgrades in its life....
Apache/Apache RTR has had only 1 (excluding its Fiero avtar).....
Unicorn too has had only 1....
(purposely, i have listed only a few players specifically from performance oriented category who have been in the market for a long time)

i believe, its only 'us' (the guys here at xbhp) who keep on wishing for more power from every upgrade that a manufacturer comes up with....
as for the masses, i dont see them having any problem with the engine or its performance. they are happy as long as they get the reliability that HH is known for, the features that are available (like black theme, alloy wheels, contemporary looks and so on..) in the market along with the most important factor..... FUEL EFFICIENCY. I think HH does address these points and that is how they keep on selling in such huge numbers.....
    totally agree with you.

along with this, every bike is solving its purpose the way it should. if someone needs a splendor, he is obviously looking at reliability, efficiency, and no fuss bike. and more over he is aware of its power and capability.

and if he wants more power than that, then there are other bikes available in their stable with same reliability

if every bike has to get engine tweak with every upgrade, then every bike will be superbike someday

Having owned a HH Super Splendor, I won't call the upgrades stupid. The bike has been made more contemporary. The bike does not need any engine upgrade what so ever, because the current Quantum Core mill does it's job beautifully. The bike got exactly got the things as an upgrade, what I wished for when I used to own one

A shorter wheelbase on the super(bike)Splendor will definitely help.

Hero Honda introduces new Super Splendor; priced at Rs 45,950

NEW DELHI: The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Honda on Thursday launched a new variant of its one of the best-sellers -- Super Splendor, priced at Rs 45,950 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

"The 125cc segment has been stagnant or even declining in the past one year, but we believe that we can grow the market. Our own expectation is to grow our own sales by about 15-20 per cent in the 125cc segment," Hero Honda Motors Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Anil Dua told PTI.

He, however, did not share the specific number of units when asked how much incremental sales the company expects with the introduction of the new bike.

The 125 cc segment accounts for about 20 per cent of the total motorcycle market, which is pegged at about 75 lakh units per annum.

After the introduction of the new variant, Hero Honda will phase out the old Super Splendor, he added.

"With consecutive months of four lakh-plus sales since the month of May, our sales are moving at all-time high levels. We are looking to build on this momentum with a slew of new launches leading up to the festive season," Dua said.

The National Capital-based company reported a jump of 2.28 per cent in its sales at 4,24,617 units in August 2010. It had sold 4,15,137 units in the same month last year.

"We will have three models in the 125cc segment, which includes Super Splendor, Glamour and Glamour PGM-FI," he said.

Hero Honda had launched the Splendor brand in 1994 in the 100cc segment and the company claims it to be the world's highest selling bike.

The company introduced Super Splendor in 2005 in the 125cc segment with "Quantum Core" engine and enhanced features to give better fuel economy.

Wow!! I'm personally very amazed seeing HH's strategies. They're going about launching Super Splendors and Super Duper Splendors with 'all new improved' GRAPHICS while Bajaj zooms past ahead in competition. We've all been witness to the growth of Bajaj as a leading 2 wheeler manufacturer in a short span of a decade.

I remember reading a book titled 'Who Moved My Cheese' a few years back. Bajaj realised that it needs to keep moving to find its cheese. HH simply laid back and was 'assured' its cheese is safe. No wonder their cheese is getting exhausted and they're not bothered about it.

I didnt took any close look of the bike. Just took a bike pic & that too by my friend. From the looks part it is clear that there are no different things except a new sticker work & the engine is also the same. At max we can only expect a digi console. Most probably i will go to the exibhition again & will try to take a few more pics & info on the bike.

                              +100,
I am even sad by the fact that even after this much rapid increase in the sales of bajaj the HH did not even bother to do something new(not talking about bodywork/sticker work) .

Hmm.. I was expecting at least a Self/Electric start option on the Splendor upgrade.
Currently even the CD Deluxe comes with self start as an option.

By the way, has the branding changed from Splendor"+" to Splendor "Pro"..??

Hero has a big limitation in the form of lack of its own R&D.. its actually commendable that they have retained the number one status for so long by depending entirely on Honda for technology..

.. but if Honda and Hero decides to separate, then things will get interesting between Hero, Honda, Bajaj and TVS.
