    My Small Thought

Guyz, i have just a small thought which just sparked up.. Rahul Gandhi is an Avid Biker.. If i'm not mistaken, i think he has a Ducati too.. How bout we all bikers in xBhp team up and put a combined petition to Rahulji himself..? Will it be possible Sunny Bhai & MG Bhai..? Just my small wish to try from our side.. We still have 24hrs for Oct 24th.. No Offense..

        hey guys,

        the update on the treaty....

the concluding statements for the treaty will be given tomorrow ut the agreement will be signed sometime in March next year. the problem stated is that the partnership has to be passed in their parliament....

@amit: now you can take a call whether to wait till march or buy the sbk this year itself

Actually when i went to buy tyres for my bike i also checked a R1's 180 section rear rubber at karol bagh (on a friend's request). A dealer quoted 16k for it.

We cant say we will never drop our bike. We all drop our bikes, dont we? Recently a Ninja 250 that fell at around 30km/hr took 50k for repair. A r1 dropped at 40km/hr wont be cheap to fix .

i am not saying that these bikes will be cheap to maintain you will definitely need a pool of money for repairs if you are not into business of some sort and are working on normal pay roll...
that's why it is said "ride safely"- its not just about you but also about your bike....

India and Japan sign trade deals - Asia-Pacific - Al Jazeera English

                  update on this...and some excerpts...

"Manmohan Singh, the Indian prime minister, who is on a three-day visit to Tokyo, is expected to push for a nuclear energy deal as part of his "Look East" policy for expanding India's growth.

The economic partnership agreement signed on Monday by Singh and his Japanese counterpart, Naoto Kan, comes amid strained ties between China and Japan, with some calling for a boycott of Japanese products.

The agreement will take effect once it is ratified by Japan's parliament, expected to be by the middle of next year, and will result in tariffs on 94 per cent of trade being gradually phased out within a decade.

The deal slashes tariffs on a range of goods from auto parts to bonsai plants and introduces measures to promote investment and deal with intellectual property rights.

It will help Japanese car makers such as Suzuki who have opened plants in India by lifting tariffs on parts, while also easing access to the market in Japan for Indian generic drugs."

from the current understanding of the facts which are out yet i can say that the SBKs from kawasaki and the KTM (if launched) will be way cheaper then the other SBKs..... waiting for the launch of zx series, and the new ninjas...

for the other SBKs no one can be sure as the current facts dont say anything about CBUs....

Coming March you may see a reduction in price of the Ninja 250R.....

                            the basis is as follows....

                            1. Ninja 250R is brought in as parts and assembled here.
                            2. custom duty on those parts currently is somewhere around 43%.
                            3. in the last line of the above post by pkon it is written that the duties will be slashed on the parts.

overall these means that the duty on the parts of Ninja 250R will also come down resulting in lower prices.

about March 2011 i read in one of the news article that the treaty will be passed by the Japanese parliament most probably by March of the coming year....

I might be wrong that is why I said Ninja 250R's prices "may" come down but fortunately this is the only thing that can be derived from the above conditions...

                                various reasons.

I would like to know the reasons.... when the pressure increases on Indian government for the WTO already signed India will have to reduce the trade barriers no matter how strong the lobby is...

                                2. For those who will argue that the bikes can be sold in India via the CKD route at a tax of 11% - 25%. Japanese manufacturers who are very particular about quality will not bring their flagshipKawasaki has already launched the Ninja 250r one of the biggest selling motorcycles in India through the CKD route and the talks of the 650 and the 1000 are also in place...
the profit margins in the case of CBUs is the same as a normal bike as the cost of bringing in a CBU is borne by the consumer.

                                4. And as for the sub-800cc bikes, the homologation rule still stands so even if they get them via the CKD route they will still be priced high to break even on the homologation charges i.e. upwards of 50lakh per model (that is why the Hyosung GT650R costs just close to 5 lakhs instead of costing 3.7 lakhs, theoretically). Only if the manufacturers decide to assemble a 400-600cc locally and source parts through local component suppliers then the prices could go down (like in the case of the Honda CBR 250R costing under 1.5 lakhs)

would like to now more facts about the cost of homologation....
none of the litre class fully faired bikes are priced less than 12lacs....

                                6. Still, some part of me still wants a R1 for 7lakhs. :-P

I want one too.... in 7 lacs...
