I would not favour any bike manufacturer be it honda or the hero group.
In the end they will stand where they deserve to. I wont favour the hero group just because they are Indian. If after the split they launch bikes like zmr-rr 300 with 300 stickers and a new paint job being the only upgrade, then definitely i would hate them, but if they come up with Hero zmr-rr 300 with 30bhp and a nice handling chassis and adequate tech then they would really be appreciated by not just me, by everybody.
Hero start working hard on your RnD if you really want to be a Hero!!!!!!

to me HERO is not that dump in judging its future it might have its own plans one will not easily let go its dominant position , indian players are on par [almost ] with japs here. I hope hero wont disappoint us .

        A very apt quote here!

"A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the oportunity in every difficulty"

I hope Hero is Optimist here and they have their plans ready. And as said, Hero isnt dumb to still not have their plans laid out.

After the divorce from HONDA, all i see is HERO taking engine of ZMR and wrapping new plastics all over it and calling it by 5 names, cuz its the only bike left with the "synonyms" potential now in the HERO garage !
May be ZMR-Dawn, ZMR- Deluxe, Super ZMR, ZMR- Joy etc !

Then with HONDA UNICORNS ENGINE,( We already have Xtreme, Hunk and Achiever, expect 5-6 more !)

I'am also expecting atleast dozens more clad in the same lawn mover (100 CC passion, splendour ETC) engine in the coming 2 years.

why couldnt hero honda focus on research and development? this divorce was inevitable after honda decided to go solo.theres still time for hero honda to bring in their own products

                Hero---Piaggio

Would you not buy a super dupper Off-Road / Sports bike clad around The ZMA / Extreme Engine Possibly LC & 4 -Valve with the help of some well known Motorcycle Desgin Studio for a considerably cheap price from Hero. This group already builds Low to Mid end products for BRP-Rotax also Tire 1 & 2 suppliers in the Automobile Industry. What happens if they go with Rotax Engine in Future ... Or .... If they sell everything to Piaggo Group. Now Dont tell me you guys wouldnt ride a Hero Aprillia. The Chinese and Korenans have already taken a big share upto 250cc MX market here. You can buy 3 of them for the price of buying one Honda. Imagine if Hero also jumps into this fray whos product is far better than the Chinese almost in par or better than the Koreans. The Munjals arent that stupid. They should be knowing and doing something right to be No.1 for along time. Note : I am not a Big Fan of Hero Honda.

                Cheers - TZ750

Honda will sell its entire stake in the motorcycle maker to the Hero Group's founding family and investment funds by as early as March, the report added.

A standing agreement to provide technical support to Hero Honda for development and production until 2014 will not be renewed, Nikkei said.

The real test for Hero would be when it will have to launch bikes with its own technology. Hope they go through the learning curve fast.

                              Doubt

Who will take these existing patent's, such as CBZ-X and Karizma etc, Hero or Honda?

                                @Deepakumar

Patents (if any) would be retained by the technology provider (mostly Honda), in return it would get a royalty payment for using the technology (which Hero Honda still pays Honda and will mostly continue to do so after the break-up)..
