  • New Honda CB Unicorn- Disappointed again

    To all Honda Lovers,
Are you all expecting a most talked new unicorn concept bike shown at auto expo 2010. I was also expecting that bike and expecting an upgrade version of unicorn as it is most required in current scenario as this bike was getting outdated in front of Yamaha FZ-S, Hunk ,Apache ,Pulsar.

However all hopes are set to crash as Honda has disappointed yet again with the new Unicorn. First and foremost the bike will now be called the CB Unicorn and will feature just viscous air filter, which needs less maintenance.

The engine remains unchanged but has been updated to meet the stricter emission norms which go into effect next month. The company has also introduced a new colour Pearl Siena Red and has priced the CB Unicorn at Rs. 69,058/- (on-road, Mumbai) and 61,924/- ( On road New Delhi - increased the prize by around 2000 only for only one viscous filter ).

      Whats wrong with honda?
for how much time they will only sell their bikes on reliability factor.
No change in design and engine since its launch.
whats the point of giving an airfilter which needs less maintainance when we have to shell out 2000 extra?
i would rather go with a k&n which will atleast increase little bit of power.

oh! that's not an upgrade at all. they just changed colours and changed the air filter. The CB thing just came in as a gradual process. As such the original Uni manual refers to the bike as CBF150 (did I get the letters correct?)

The price increase of Rs 2000 has it's share from the increase in taxes too. As such, I don't understand why Honda keeps jacking up the prices!!!

Well, the details of the CB Unicorn has been updated in Honda 2 Wheeler India website

Almost all manufacturers have increased its prices, its the Budget 2010 effect.

              My pleasure.

Surprisingly the 'CB" Unicorn doesn't get Tubeless tyres and still got the 'Tuff Up' variety while the CB Twister and CBF Stunner comes with Tubeless tyres..!!

there you go.. honda is now following the footsteps of herohonda and yamaha.. i think none of the manufacturers are interested in catering to the 150+ segment

The Twister & Stunner are on 17" wheels whereas the Uni is on 18". Atleast we have the tuff-up option!!!

With the viscous-free air filter we'd expect a maintenance free battery that is now a standard in most Honda's in India... but that too didn't seem to hapen.

Did you notice that CB is not mentioned on the bike and it is still just "Unicorn"?

Most fireigners feel Indians are greedy. Need a change in job fast, hike fast, promotion fast... I was not convinced. But my stint at xBhp sort of convinces me at that. Of course, I too want the Uni's head & tail to be changed. Everything else, it is just perfect.

I wonder why HMSI is treating it's flagship Mobike as a step child. I mean I agree that engine is almost perfect but why not give a nice sports version of the UNI with a international standard graphic scheme, clips ons et all. I love and respect the Uni but was always put away from getting one because of it's plain Vanila looks/styling and the commuter riding postion.

The FZ end of the day is a 150cc bike but is leagues ahead of it's peers in terms of styling and features and really stands out. Honda must take a cue from YAMAHA's design team and marketting teams.

This is not an upgrade and it is waste of time to rant on it. There is a Sports version of the Unicorn coming soon (as show in AutoExpo) and will be priced much higher than the current Unicorn. Both the variants will be on sale.
