you shouldn't be complaining you pay 7-9 rupees lesser than what we do in Bangalore, it's not the fault of the Govt atleast not this time, the price hike is due to an increase in crude oil prices internationally. we can only hope the prices everywhere ill plunge and in turn we will have to pay substantially lesser.Originally posted by anmol_1990 View Post56 INR...is what in delhi.....
seriously this is going out of hands now
riding karizma will soon be dream if these conditions persists.
When are next Lok Sabha Elections?

Err, the Central Govt already subsidizes the price of these fuels. How much loss do you want them to incur? And for your information petrol is sold in Delhi for around 58rupees where as in Bjp ruled karnataka where I hail from it's sold at 65 rs/liter. which other Govt do you want to give a chance to?Originally posted by abhilashabhi12 View PostThe Central Govt aka Congress should be ashamed of themselves in not doing anything to control the prices.
Where in the world we have a ICC cheif who is also a minster of state of ruling party

this has been a lame excuse for the government. now people can say that prices are de-regulated, even before that conditions were bad.Originally posted by RogueRider View Postit's not the fault of the Govt atleast not this time, the price hike is due to an increase in crude oil prices internationally.
For what the oil ministry exists? so is the oil minister?

Since the petroleum products prices was de-regulated in 2010 ; The oil ministry doesn't have any legal say in petrol prices . Now , IOL/HP/BP only informally consults the govt ministry before hiking prices .That too because, up to now, IOL/HP/BP are publicly owned ,and the government is the majority share-holders in these companies, who keep most of our refineries and pumps etc infrastructure . Very Soon that is going to change tooOriginally posted by anmol_1990 View Postthis has been a lame excuse for the government. now people can say that prices are de-regulated, even before that conditions were bad.

! as the government is actively pursuing a program of dis-investment, it is slated that IOL/HP/BP will soon sell their shares, including majority stake .Then they will have complete freedom in setting petrol/diesel/kerosene prices ,and we will be completely at their mercy .
Very few Indians protested or even noticed, while they were preparing the groundwork to arrive at this open market kind of setup. This is situation that usa have been demanding of us ,and the government trying to arrive at, for many years now . American oil giants exxon/chevron/shell wants to set up business in the massive and lucrative Indian markets, and they cannot sell their products here if the Indian government continues to subsidise, or fix the national prices for petrol/agricultural-diesel/cooking-gas/kerosene /lubricants/Aircraft Turbine Fuel etc . So the government, in future, wants to be relegated to tax-collecting role in oil only .Welcome to grim reality of liberalisation .

isn't liberalization healthy?? it will directly result to increased competition!!Originally posted by Pinaki View PostSince the petroleum products prices was de-regulated in 2010 ; The oil ministry doesn't have any legal say in petrol prices . You've got it wrong .. apparently at present Govt has hardly a say in the pricing of fuel, since prices are deregulated. Since they aren't the ones hiking the price why blame them of giving excuses. People wanted a liberal market and you've got it now then why point fingers at the Govt?Originally posted by anmol_1990 View Postthis has been a lame excuse for the government. now people can say that prices are de-regulated, even before that conditions were bad.

Like someone has pointed out, in the near future when other oil companies set shop in India the pricing will be more competitive, but don't be fooled they can't lower the price beyond a point if the price of crude oil is increasing all over. Alternative energy is the future!sigpic

Yesss , they are going to increase it . At least on Diesel , that's fixed . Only waiting for modalities to exempt agricultural users , most probably through an agri-diesel-user-card system .Originally posted by eliksir View Postthe government could do something about the taxes and duties
There shall be great competition , who can fleece us for how much wool .
Liberalisation is very healthy for the oil companies .
You shall note that IOL/HP/BP has set different prices for their products this time around to avoid coming under anti-cartelisaion laws now in place . Clearly they are acting as a cartel .

Indeed interesting. Hoping that it would come into commercial usage sooner. Any idea of the greenhouse gases emitted on burning of these fuels??Originally posted by tanay View PostGuys, go through the link below.
