Is there any law in the United States or rest of the world that prevents music in vehicles?

One of the major steps recommended is definition of hit-and-run accidents under law. The committee has recommended that a solatium fund be created to award immediate compensation to the tune of Rs 1 lakh to hit-and-run accident victims. The final compensation package would be calculated on the basis of a number of factors like the age of the victim, how grievously the victim has been hurt and is there has been any permanent disability. A victim could get upto Rs 12 lakh compensation. Apart from this, all compensations for road accident victims will be revised annually in tune with inflation. Sources said that there is debate whether this revision should be annual or once in three years. So far, the compensations were as paltry as Rs 12,500.
So, if I walk along side the median with my back to traffic and earphones plugged in and get run over by a tipper lorry, my family will get compensation? Stupidity is legal now

I would have liked the law to exclude scenarios like above from hit and run definiton. Infact, if the chap survives a case should be slapped against him for jay walking. After all, if you decide to take a stroll on a railway track, its not train driver/operators fault if you get run over? Road also should be treated with same sanctity and it should be strictly off-limits to pedestrians.

            Provision for inflation LoL!

That thing about iPod is another way to make money for mamas. Now that DL dikhao, insurance dikhao routine is stopped, this will be a new tamasha.

              1. no music?why no for motorcycle?every car has it and they can enjoy FULL HIGH BASS WITH ULTRA LOW BASS TUBES which can shack the near passer persons inner soul and still we say no music from a small music player.yaya i know the responsibility and i know and how to use a music player and i believe a knowledgeable community like xbhp also knows how to use it,so give us a break.there is law for unlawful music listening but no music is ridicules.as for the music for some it works some dont,i personally cannot ride without music,be it a car be it a bike, riding for past 10 years,no complaints.
              2. central registration or CENTRAL MOTORVEHICLE DATABASE,+100000000000 for that,

on a lighter note,a country where a police man looks at every oppertunity to extract money from anyone, even a fully geared mature biker is seen as a RACER!i feel ashamed.

why so many boos to the "no music law"???

listening to music while riding a motorcycle is not safe.

it should be a punishable offence.

Well, somewhere I remember reading that all one has to do is pay the road tax to the other state & can still keep running with the old registration number.

the rule is quite straightforward. you can ride without paying tax for that particular state for a period of 1 month from the date of arrival in that state, provided you have the proof of date of arrival at the state.if you are staying beyond a period of 1 month then its mandatory that you have to pay a temporary tax which is valid for a year. if you have stayed beyond 1yr, there is no option but you have to re-register your vehicle and its mandatory.

the problem is when i shifted to rajasthan ,and went there to pay the tax , i was informed that the temporary tax system doesnt exists and that i have to pay the whole lifetime tax and re- register my bike.for re-registering getting the NOC is the biggest headache. the tax quoted to me was 7000 for a 3yr old bike.

the official then asked me for how long i wish to stay here, i said 1-2 yr , then he said - no need to go through all these hassels if you plan to stay for just 1 yr , noone is going to ask if you follow the traffic rules.that's what i have been doing since. iam lucky coz no one bothers here or in delhi as long as you follow the traffic rules, but its not the same in maharashtra or karnataka or kerala.therefore a central vehicle registration system and database of all vehicle should be made available.

Why dont they pay good to cops ? let them have a good salaries ..
All the amendments are nothing but more source of extra income for mamus...
                    Pathetic, ridiculous rules ....
First they should shut down all the toll collection booths on NH and SH and even some village roads...yes grampanchayats are also collecting toll these days (try roaming in Mahabaleshwar) ... The road tax we pay is not sufficient I suppose. Wondering where does all the tax money goes ?

Guys, I have a doubt regarding registration of my bike. I moved from Chennai to Delhi with my FZ in last July with an intent of getting an NOC from Chennai and getting the bike registered at Delhi. Now here is the story:-

@ Chennai - When I went for NOC the agent asked me for 1900/- so i decided to do it myself. It took me around 2 weeks and cost me around 600 bucks out of which 500 bucks was some token fee (for which i got a proper receipt) directly going to TN govt (I couldn't understand as I read earlier on some blogs that it costs arnd 100 bucks)...nyways I sumhow got the NOC which involved so many round trips from Tambaram to Meenambakkam RTO (Once I had to carry the file after getting duly signed from Meenambakkam RTO to Tambaram RTO as thr was no one available in the office to transfer the files)....

@Delhi - When I went to RTO (North Delhi) for inquiring about the re-registration, they simply told that there are already so many new vehicles in line for getting registered, so it is impossible to get my vehicle registered over here. Though he said me that no body is gonna stop my vehicle on this issue....so far his words have been right and I have never been stopped due to a TN registration (I drove around during CWG games when the whole delhi was converted in to a Traffic Police Camp..I wonder where have they disappeared after CWG) ....Now the problem is that I don't know what will happen when I move out of Delhi (probably in June this year) coz guyz in chennai have put a sticker on my RC stating "NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE IS HEREBY ISSUED TO RTO NORTH DELHI REGION"......

Is it possible that I pay the taxes in whichever next state I go to and keep on driving despite the fact that I got an NOC sticker issued for North Delhi on my RC???

There's a world of difference comparing music in car w.r.t music in motorcycles & I frankly didn't expect this from your Dr.

If one can have the same ultra bass sound or so on motorcycle without plugging to ears, then its fine hearing music & riding.

Strongly agreed!!! Sometimes, my ears were alert in spotting the guys who were hiding in the blind spot. So I'd also say "NO" to music when riding. Infact, I avoid music even when I drive.

GREED beats everything down. GREED sources even more extra income. Here in TN, the state cops are paid as equivalent to central Govt, but still the lower level is very seriously corrupt.

IMO, there're no tolls collected in any SH. If you come across, pls let me know. Even if they do exist, they should be part of BOT & check their validity. It would've been expired mostly, which means, they operate illegal.

A separates registration under Central Government should be a option available for people who change residences frequently due to work when registering their vehicle thus getting rid of obtaining NOC's whenever they shift. I see lots of people driving with mobile phones although its not allowed how they are going to enforce no music rule its stupid rule to begin with unlike talking while driving without hands-free device is real danger to all

Even i agree... The standard excuse is that the music volume is kept low...

But, even the low volume music is a distraction. It eats up one's concentration (even of by a little amount) and that will make a difference between falling or escaping in a tricky situation. If it does not affect one's concentration even a bit, then he/she wouldn't be listening to it in the first place...
