  • Bajaj to launch bike with KTM in FY12 (Updated on first post)

    New News and Link
Country's No.2 motorcycle maker Bajaj Auto, which is jointly developing power bikes with Austria's KTM, plans to launch a model in the next financial year, a top official said on Tuesday.

"The product...will first be launched in Europe and then in India, sometime during the next financial year," S. Sridhar, chief executive officer of Bajaj Auto's two-wheeler unit told reporters. The bike, to be assembled at the company's plant in western Indian city of Pune, will be marketed under the KTM brand and would be priced at more than 100,000 rupees ($2,096), Sridhar said.

In April, Bajaj Auto said it had invested 20 million euros to raise shareholding in KTM to 35.7 percent from 31.9 percent.

Interesting piece of news there from Business Standard. 125cc motorcycles being launched at a premium costing more than the current R15!!! First launches in Europe.

    Approved
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

      Interesting

But dada... I guess it's performance figures would be better than that of R15. What's your take?

This sounds interesting , I hope they keep the tag lower than R15 for a 125 cc bike. 90ish for the KTM's would be good

One KTM 125 has a suggested retail pricing of US$4500 odd. Just check here: Bike Review: KTM 125 E/XC - Motorcycle.com

Nope; I'm not going to look at motorcycles less than 500CC, single cylinder; All I need is a 500+CC, twin cylinder & a street motorcycle & preferably inline twin & not parallel twin. So no confusions.

It is going to retail at 2-2.5Lakhs in Europe. But thankfully we won't have to pay so much because its going to be manufactured here. So Mr. Bajaj has said 1-1.5L range. Depending upon what hey come up with, it may or may not be worth.

250cc will come three years later

I think the Bajaj KTMs will be like those prototype pictures that were out a few months back... Hold on, got a picture somewhere...

Pricing-Performance ratio will be the key to the success of these bikes.

Any idea about the specifications, guys!!
