Was just wondering if this means the electronic items from Sony Toshiba Panasonic etc will become cheaper too?

Till 91, economy was not even open in India. Now we shall wait till 21 or something to let the others freely in India. Lets hope the Indian makers are ready before that.

with so much duty it seems like the govt. is too partial....atleast something aroun 50% would be fine
it would be giving the japs a fair chance too....els its jus toooooooo much in favour of indegeneous companies
(aur they can help jap companies by reducing duty if they JV with an indian cmpany)
But again, the Japs are not courageous or innovative either. They are here for xx years, and a 250cc is their flagship, except for Million rupee Imports?!
They are free to manufacture anything without hampering the economy. It can gather around 1500 units/ year or so, provided its a decent attempt at marketing (Product/ Price/ Place/ Promotion).

I believe the government and the companies are at 50-50% fault, the reason why we don't get great bikes here at acceptable prices. Don't levy it entirely on the government.

the duties are neither relieved nor erased....

infact our govt's definition of CKD just took a U turn....

the result of which is an increase in the duty of around 10% on some of the so called CKDs....
