The absence of XCD135 has been felt and has been rightly answered in terms of the trusted Discover 125 Dtsi again.
The commuter line-up of Bajaj is now squarely targeted at the commuter line-up of Yamaha product by product:
Bajaj:
1.Platina 100
2.Platina 125
3.Discover 100
4.Discover 125
5.Discover 150
Yamaha:
1.YBR 110
2.YBR 125
3.Crux
4.SS 125
5.SZ-R
No doubt Bajaj would triumph with its Discover 125 DTSi again

I have a question. How can a 125cc bike aimed at street torque and mileage, have a maximum power of 11 bhp?
I mean, this puts it up in league of Stunner (11.15 bhp) and Gladiator (11 bhp), right?
How is this possible from a commuter mill aimed at torque and mileage?---

Stunner too is street torque and mileage commuter. What is special about it?Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI have a question. How can a 125cc bike aimed at street torque and mileage, have a maximum power of 11 bhp?

We forgot to credit it for one more achievement... it is lighter (@118.5Kg)than the rest by at least 4.5 kg So in Fact it has better power/weight ratio...Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI have a question. Here is the rest of the pack:
D125 118.5Kg
Stunner 128Kg
Shine 123kg
YBR 125 126kg
Gladiator 123Kg
Slingshot 128Kg
Flame 123Kg
Glamour 125Kg
@DOA Stunner doesn't have a ARAI rated FE of 87.5kmpl.Last edited by antz.bin; 04-06-2011, 10:08 PM.Advice is a form of nostalgia.

I always thought any 11 bhp bike of 125cc is aimed more at "sporty riding". This is the first such bike to be aimed at commuters only.Originally posted by Wanted DoA View PostThanks for pointing out. What I meant was that stunner is not a screamer, but just a commuter with plastics.
If 11 bhp is for 125cc commuters, then where do you put the 8.5-10 bhp crowd like Shine, Slingshot, etc. ?
Again, this is a very good effort by Bajaj. Very well done!

Taking it that way in which catagory do you think P135 will fall? Super-Sports??Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI always thought any 11 bhp bike of 125cc is aimed more at "sporty riding". This is the first such bike to be aimed at commuters only.

its not just the bhp figurs but power characteristics, seating position, suspention setting etc. etc. which make a bike sporty.
Hero Honda commuter range have very low bhp figures coz they are still using decades old horizontal layout engines in splendors, passions.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.

Suzuki Slingshot is very very torquey and even with its low power figure it clocks 102 kmph at top end.It looks upmarket too.Originally posted by Samarth 619 View PostI always thought any 11 bhp bike of 125cc is aimed more at "sporty riding". Honda Shine may not be so torquey but highly fuel efficient and too clocks 100 kmph as top end.Has proved to be a highly reliable commuter vehicle in the Discover-less market.
Hero Honda Glamour is a 125cc Hero Honda......nothing more to say about it.
Bajaj's own Platina 125 is a bad successor to the first Discover 125.
Yamaha's YBR 125 is what remains of Gladiator to be the 125cc basic commuter bike.
These are what I think are basic 125cc bikes.
While on the radical side, are bikes with 125cc hearts and some presence.
They are :
Honda CBF Stunner : The good thing is it looks very sporty and the boring thing is that it carries the 125cc Optimax mill of Honda Shine and does not varies too much when it comes to performance.
TVS Flame :TVS tried to provide a performance friendly 125cc with sharp looks. But being stressed by controversy since its birth,is now deemed to be a poor quality bike and its not upto the mark of a full fledged commuter and neither it furnishes the image of performance as its RTR tagged elder brothers does.
Yamaha SS125 : Shouts loudly that Gladiator 125 is extinct and the Stylish and Sporty 125cc of Yamaha has good top end performance(clocks 107 kmph) and nice looks along with big bike feel. Its a premium 125cc bike.
After all these, I believe only Honda Shine now rules the root of 125cc segment in India. This segment has voted in favour of commuter like bikes.Hence SS125 and Flame does not do so well.CBF Stunner sells(though not much like Shine) for its looks.
But the Discover 125 has returned with the DTSi engine and not the Dts-Si engine like that of Platina 125.It has commuter favouring stance and performance friendly DTSi engine.Only test rides can confirm its true performance and mileage now and that will confirm where it will fit now.
But I think, its specifications has been standardized to take on Honda Shine, the market leader. So it is a commuter bike with a knack for performance.Hence it is a commuter bike with power figure of 11 bhp, thanks to DTSi engine.Along with that it has got Gas charged suspension system now, to ride comfortable. It tries to be a premium 125cc bike like SS125 in its own way.
What remains to be seen that, now since the people have tasted the refinement and quality of Honda......how would they welcome back the original Discover.Last edited by MACH50; 04-07-2011, 09:26 PM.Hell's Angel

I don't think Shine can do 100kmph.. it may show it on speedo.. but true top speed could be something like 95kmph.. but once you cross 70 on Shine/Stunner you won't feel like increasing speed, unlike Gladiator which goes smoothly all the way upto 105kmph on speedo. Don't know much about Sling shot.. but even the earlier Disco 125 was comfortable till 90kmph.. never tried it's top speed though. The new one being lighter, should do even better.. and remember Shine didn't pickup much in sales till Disco 125 was stopped. Now that Disco 125 is back, I expect stiff competition to Shine!! let's see how it goes.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Are you sure shine does over 100? Its least powered of the 125cc lot AFAIK, 8.5bhp I guess. What is its kerb weight?Originally posted by MACH50 View PostSuzuki Slingshot is very very torquey and even with its low power figure it clocks 102 kmph at top end.It looks upmarket too.
Discover.
And old Discover125 was 11.5 bhp right? My friend owns it and it still hits 105 on speedo. so the new one is tuned for more mileage.Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
