Is it really fair to comment that S1000 RR is "Idiotly" priced ? I mean, Ducati's are also insanely priced but then again it's Ducatis & die-hards will pay that price for owning an Italian beauty rather than Japanese screamers Similarly, the kind of BRAINS BMW S1000RR is claimed to have, it may be worth the price !! Isn't it considered to be a Foolproof bike with a tag of fastest production bike also ? !

I am certainly not biased towards BMW, Yamaha or Ducati. Bit biased towards Bajaj though

Note: If you wanna go for a CAR just because it's that pricey, then you are in wrong forum perhaps

Dude, I said that because it is the same BMW which sells the X3 and the likes for about the same price. I know what BMW is and what they are capable of doing but I fail to understand how the cost of production of a similarly advanced car is equal to that of their own bike.

The answer is simple, BMW cars are assembled in India which brings down the price drastically whereas BMW bikes are a direct import (correct me if I'm wrong people) which pushes the prices over the roof.

All due respect to BMW...but BMW is not yet ready to sell such bikes in India until they can bring the prices down to an acceptable level...

yes. most certainly. the guys at BMW are morons to price it at 23 lac in India.

but... the BMW isn't priced this out of whack in comparison to other litre-class bikes in the US, UK and OZ.

so why the obtusely-disproportionate pricing for India?

and remember... for that price-tag you can get a rather "ooomphy" Ducati.

and the S1000RR is not is not is not a Ducati.

          One more thing...

For 23 lacs...you could buy the Yamaha Vmax in India. Now is there anyone out here who believes that this BMW bike is better / faster / more sexy than the Vmax??

i do. but i still think... at 23 lac, the S1000RR is over-overpriced.

Even the Ducatis are relatively Sanely prized I would say.
                848 Evo around 13 and 1198 around 16 lakhs.

This is seriously a very high price from BMW. It would atleast make prospective buyers think..

But at this prize this is going to be one hell of an Exclusive bike. Even more exclusive than the Ducatis might be..

I may sound dumb, if so please excuse me.
But normally I have seen the bike pricing in india is around
                    ~Actual bike price + duties(around 120%)

Dont know how much BMW wants to earn from India, are they expecting a 100% profit on this bike or they dont want to sell in more numbers to make it so called exclusive.

                    BMW S1000RR price
                    Premium Package: $15,880.00
In India it should cost around Rs 1575000

Even I do. S1000RR is a sports bike. It will have a higher Top Speed and lets not consider Top Speed but you will be able to ride at higher speeds because of wind protection against the V-max.

The V-max might though smoke the BMW in a drag race. I am not sure.
I am no way saying that V-max is not better than BMW but they are just not comparable in my eyes.

V-max has been a cult but the S1000RR has also going a lot of things in its favour. But my point still stands. It is very highly prized.

The extra 120% goes to the Indian government and not the bike manufacturer. That is called as import duty. This is why importing bikes is such a costly affair. One can do it on his/her own or the company (like BMW) can do it for us.

Bottomline - The price seems insane until the company starts to assemble the bike in India after which the extra 120% duty doesn't need to be paid.

Also, I don't think pricing a bike so high makes it exclusive. Tomorrow if the bike is assembled in India, the price would fall and the exclusivity will vanish. Is that really fair (because the bike remains the same). If there is anything that makes a bike exclusive then it has to be the technology and not just the price.

What you say is absolutely correct bro. Not that I don't understand the difference between the BMW and the Vmax. I was just comparing the prices and the oomph factor.

The profit is already included in the US price and I know I am not wrong . and 120% is paid by buyer, company does not volunteer that.

23 lakhs thats insane even if you consider its technologically ahead and quicker compared to its rivals. Well cmon how many of the potential buyers would even push these bikes to capabilities ?
