There will be three probable models from Kawasaki. Z1000, Z1000SX [Faired version] also called Ninja 1000 and the ZX10R.

Anyways all are inline fours! And the final answer will be out in the 2012 Auto Expo.

I put my bets on the ninja 1000... Which is the same as the Z1000sx...

I agree. We can further narrow it down to Ninja 1000 and ZX 10R. Reason is that:

1. Someone earlier confirmed that Kawasaki will only get "Ninja" range of bikes to India, not others. I can't recall who, though.

2. Faired bikes are more likely to be accepted in India. We already have enough naked litres like CB1000R, FZ1, etc.
A faired streetbike like N1000 if priced well, could enjoy its USP in the market.

Let's see what it would be. Personally speaking, let the Ninja 650R's bookings resume first before we move on...

Would you want to book a bike in October - November, which would be delivered in December with a December 2010 stamp on the RC book. That too when come 2012 you would see a new 2012 version of the same with at least a new paint job, and at best a lot of cosmetic changes!

I have booked a N650R here in Chennai few weeks ago and delivery promised was before April 2012, is it normal?

Also heard Blue and other shades would be available from Jan 2012 is that true?

Guys who have experience on N650R, I would like to know tow things,

How the bike would feel in highways? lets say I cruise between 130-150Kph. Will it be noisy, as I heard the N650 would sound like a tractor.

Will it run 20Kmpl if I cruise like I have mentioned above? Coz if its less than 20Kmpl then I would have to visit a fuel pump very often due to 15.5Kmpl tank. (Should have been 20Litres atleast for a 200Kgs Bike)

I would love to. Is anyone transferring their booking around Rajasthan/ Delhi?
They don't have to lose the Rs. 10,000 on booking amount too as I would be paying in Cash.

Actually, Satyen bro, you know the 2012 model would be getting environmentally-favorable changes (Source: Visordown & others).
Which means, more weight and lesser performance...
So, the answer to your question is Yes- I want the 2011 model.

@ HarishK: Even a 1300cc Hayabusa & a CB1000R can return 20 kmpl on highways. So, don't worry about it. Kawasaki claims 49 mpg for Ninja 650R which makes it 20.825 kmpl. You might get even more. And on highways, you can maintain 6th gear for speeds as low as 50 kmph, further helping in mileage..

No idea about noise. However, keep in mind I have no personal experience with N650R yet...

since we always get leftovers it will be z1000 as my guess but yup the review of 1000sx especially from ergonomic & touring point of view coupled with sweet handling makes it a must have at a price point between 8-10 L

I owned a 2007 SV650 in the US. It was a beautiful machine, could cruise at 50mph in 6th Gear with ease. It was an easy pick over the Ninja 650. I use to get close to 60mpg which would translate to around 27.5 kmph on our Indian highways. I guess the Ninja 650 should return similar mileage. Top speed that I managed was 210 kmph.

If you compare the prices of the Ninja 250 and the Ninja 650 viz a viz the prices in the US, keeping the same calculation, then the Ninja 1000 should cost just below 7 lac Ex-Showroom price in India. Which should plonk it comfortably below the FZ1 as the cheapest litre class bike available in India.

Now I just hope Suzuki launches the SV here in India so that I can pick it up. I spoke to the Suzuki guys at the Auto Expo in 2010 and they said they had no plans of introducing it in India, but that story is now 2 years old and with the Ninja 650 having a waiting period, I'm sure Suzuki and Yamaha will be scrambling to get their 600cc offerings in.

I hope they do.However the suzuki servicing here is very pathetic as per my observations.also I have read several good things about sv650 myself.it mildly better than ninja 650 overall.However semi-faired is something which makes me think about it more than once.

Is on the Z1000... And if this thing comes true, Mulunds gonna see a superbike prowling the streets here for sure. I was first contemplating a M796 this december, but after this, i'll prefer to wait...
