PBK is getting it done by Bajaj Auto Loans. 7.77% is what Delhi VK PBK quoted.
Anyways they are asking for 50k and not a penny less. Further if the customer wants to cancel the booking he will get back only 40k and that too after 30 days of cancellation. Bajaj seems to be very firm on deducting the amount of 10k. I confirned it with Vk pbk, CP pbk and Noida pbk. 10,000 is the amount you will be required to surrender.
    sorry, but really WTF

same here man.won't book it till bajaj initiates a test ride for the bike.or even if it's possible would wait till this year.4 months of wait is already nerve wrenching.

One more thing the PBK guy told me that Bajaj is dictating terms as there is high demand for the bike. People are ready to forgo almost-in-hand Hyosung for the Ninja. I asked him to give me a buzz when this 10k penalty is done away with. He said sir dont worry after November the things will ease out. "Shuru ki bikes bik jaayein fir customer nahi milenge" (Once the initial rush is over, it will be not so easy for Bajaj to find customers for 650R)

hahahahahahahahahha! exactly man!! I know that too hence I am waiting patiently without booking it as the booking alone is very hefty. So you should wait too and all the other riders who value their 5 lakhs too should wait too because the rush and bajaj policies right now are rubbish. "We plan to hit a target of 240 in the first month "-So they said, they knew but they weren't prepared.

It's very irresponsible decision on part of Bajaj Auto. If you have more demand, why not just increase the waiting period? Why using underhanded tactics like surrendering 10,000 just to cancel a booking?
And will people get a test ride before they book? They should at least send a test bike to each of the 32 (or so) Pbk showrooms so people can test it before booking.

These corporates get really ugly when their products are in demand...

                • Bajaj is working on giving out test rides.

                  and once they do...
they'll prolly have a (refundable) "10K for a test ride" deposit offer running by then.

If not at every PBK then atleast one bike for PBKs in a particular area like in NCR here we have more than a couple of PBKs.

                      • I don't like the fact that Bajaj feels the need to withhold Rs.10K either but why has it really come to this?

How many of you go book something, and then go book something else, and then cancel one or both the bookings and buy a car

We aren't talking about washing machines, microwaves etc. We are talking about a motorcycle that costs in excess of 5L rupees and targets a very niche group of customers. When you book a bike at a Probiking showroom the process gets kicked out to ship in a CKD kit with your name on it and this is then assembled and delivered to you.

If you scram after booking and cancel, it isn't the end of the world and they can simply offload it to the next guy in the booking order. Theoretically this shouldn't affect the company at all...so there should be no reason to have a penalty clause for cancellation of bookings. I am sure that if you were to raise this in the court of law, Bajaj would have no choice but to return the funds in lieu of the fact that no services was delivered to the customer. But all this is unnecessary.

                        FUNDAMENTALLY...

Why would you go book something with the intention of cancelling? If a bunch of bogus customers had booked out the first lot of bikes then it becomes unattractive to genuine customers because their projected waiting times become longer!

There is every possibility that in an effort to divert sales, some other manufacturer could block-book a large number of bikes under various names. People interested in getting a bike in a reasonable amount of time would then look away from Bajaj...and this manufacturer can then cancel the bookings. It is unscrupulous but not illegal...and Bajaj would be screwed.

Indians have a very bad habit of giving casual commitments and backing out. In the US they have a 30 day return policy on almost anything. Come cricket season it is usually the Indians who buy big-screen TVs in turns to watch the world-cup and then return the televisions back to Walmart. We are so good at screwing the system that the system has to devise ways to get tougher. This stance by Bajaj is a clear indication of this trend.

If you want the bike - go book it and buy it. Not booking it because Bajaj wants to keep Rs.10K of your money is like saying you'll get engaged to a girl but it is unreasonable on her part to expect loyalty and fidelity from you

You can visit Shreeram Bajaj at Kanjurmarg. The shop assistant told me that only they are selling it in Mumbai.

You can see the bike and even rev it up

The phoenix mills Sai Service Bajaj outlet is gonna be selling both the Ninjas too... Got a call from them 3 days ago asking me if I was interested in a test ride etc. They said they should be able to serve Ninja customers by next month... They are expanding the showroom in order to accomodate the 3 Ninjas and the 3 KTMS's... Thats what the manager told me when I spoke to him personally around a month ago at the SVC...

I support your reasoning too but it's not fair at all to deduct the money if the waiting period is that hefty what bajaj has to offer right now.Maybe that's because they wanted to make sure the first buyers are the genuine buyers and not the fake ones as you mentioned. If that's the true case then I really support this booking pattern from them as this ensures that later when the sales drop a little they would not keep the same condition as the waiting period wouldn't be that long.(Or that's what we can expect at least )
