Actually it is not a question of it being free. It is more a question of organisation. BMW is good with hospitality and that is the way I felt all through the festival and even later.

Dada bring on the Day2 pics, I am sure you would be having so much fun on that amazing GS Adventure and that also fully loaded..... with your offroad skills it would be a treat to watch you ride in some offroad track

You do not have to buy a BMW to go to BMW Motorrad Days! You can also take a bus!

It is not as fast. But it gets the job done!

Or you can work with BMW. In that case, you will get your bike to go there!

Oh the GS! It will come... separately... not in Day 2. The GS is a different "ball" game altogether. Everything else comes easy after that!

              It is coming up soon.

                Day 2The Older Race Spec

The Newer Race Spec Look at the difference in the exhaust systems.

                Full Carbon Fibre

                Full Taxi!

Wheelie Trial Machine No helmet required. No knee guards required. You just have to get a hang of the thing!

                Husqvarna Practice Track

                Sexy Lineup!

The BMW Motorrad online team replying to questions and reporting worldwide over the web!

BMW Classics Bikers from India, go do your homework and tell us what this is and the history behind the bike!

The afternoon was dedicated in meeting the BMW Motorrad Munich folks whom I had met in India in 2010, mostly responsible for Marketing and Imports. An intense two hour discussion followed regarding plans in India.

                Ronald Moeller

                Hans Blesse

Unfortunately the rains kept coming in intermittently and heavily through the day. Late in the afternoon I finally had to rule out a ride completely for the day. I went back to the hotel to freshen up and for the evening concert. Myrrd Davis, the responsible for BMW Motorrad US for Events, helped me with the huge GS out of the parking which by now had begun to resemble the tropical swamplands of Sundarbans!

Another fascinating day with very lively commentary Ken. Thumps Up.
This is true biking nirvana for BMW lovers.

Hoping BMW plans for India are very promising..... I think I will permanently import my GS to India.

                    Thanks Haroon.

By the way, how tall are you? Coz the GS is not the easiest of bikes to ride if you are short.

Hehehe true. But he's very much tall that the GS is made for him. I found it really difficult to get my feet on the ground on Haroon bro's bike. GS is really tall not for short riders.

Yeah, thats true what you & Binoy are saying. I am close to 6ft tall so its easy. Yours was a 1200 Adventure thats even taller than my standard GS! I am sure esp leaning into the first few curves, you would have felt like somebody is sitting behind you & trying to tilt the bike further into the curve. Its indeed a tall bike. But BMW has an optional lowering kit (consisting of a thinner seat, shorter rear suspension and a shorter center stand) that can lower the bike few inches down.

BTW, my bike will soon be getting 1-2 inches higher from the ground as I will be installing a custom Russell All Day seat on my bike. The stock seat sucks.

I am relatively short guy. I am barely 169cms. That is just about 5'6" or thereabouts. And I was riding the Adventure. It took me a little adjusting, I lowered the suspension electronically and the BMW guys changed my Adventure seat to a regular seat and I did the rest of the adjustments psychologically and I was rolling just fine.

I would not have ridden anything in Bavaria other than the marvellous GS adventure that BMW gave me!

I was thrilled when I saw these papers...

Ken - is the 1200 a forgiving bike for starters or its like otherway round?

Take it on tarmac, take it off the road, take it up the stairs or down them... and GS will hold strong. And you will stay firmly on it! And I am not even talking about build quality here, nor the reliability!

Fabulous!! How did I miss this thread for so long.
You narration is simply great. Almost brought me to the event in Germany.
It is amazing to see & read about the biggest BMW Motorrad event. Looking forward to reading your impressions about the R1200GS Adv.

You need to watch 'Long Way Round'. You can consider Ewan Mc Greggor as a novice in that.
The cameraman (Claudio) is too much of a novice for our discussion.

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.
