Honda All-New Scooter to be Unveiled at Auto Expo 2014
Honda Motor Company, Japan, in an official release today cleared its plan for the 2014 Auto Expo. The Japanese automaker released a detailed list of cars to be exhibited at its pavilion. In addition, the company also officially declared the unveiling of a brand new scooter for the Indian market. The new scooter will share space with a variety of Honda motorcycles at the brand’s pavilion at the 2014 Auto Expo.In addition to revealing its plans for introducing a brand new scooter for the Indian market, the company also claimed to have the largest exhibit area at the Expo 2014 among all the two-wheeler makers in the India. “Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (Private) Ltd. will have the largest exhibition area among all motorcycle booths, and will exhibit a variety of motorcycle products including all-new scooter”, the company said in its official release. While no details have been revealed about the new scooter for the Expo, it can be a brand new 125cc scooter, developed specifically for the Indian market. Since no details have been revealed about the scooter yet, the new machine may very well be a female specific offering, as there isn’t any such product in Honda’s scooter lineup.Honda currently enjoys the lion’s share in the lucrative scooter market, and would require new product releases to consolidate its position in the segment. It’s notable that competition, including Mahindra Two wheelers, Suzuki, Hero, Yamaha and TVS has been increasingly paying more attention to the scooter segment and launching new products. This may make things a bit more difficult for Honda in the long run. The new scooter would help Honda offer another option to the customers in the scooter category. We’ll soon dig out the entire list of products from Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India limited at Auto Expo 2014. Stay tuned

This is some news MonkOriginally posted by The Monk View Post
Keeping these recent events in mind, the R25 and now this, looks like Yamaha is getting more aggressive towards lower displacement category.
I think, Yamaha might bring a 250cc for the Asian countries where even a 250cc twin would hold a good place and a 300cc twin/triple for the European and American markets where other companies are now replacing their 250cc bikes with 300cc's.
Lets see how things unfold.

Yamaha Trademarks YZF R3 and R3 names in USA. Is there going to be a 300cc version of the concept showcased in Japan of the R25? Or is this going to be a three cylinder which has been rumoured to be in the pipeline for a very long time.

Belgium’s Eric Palante Has Died Racing in the Dakar Rally

We are saddened today to report that Belgian racer Eric Palante has been found dead on the Dakar Rallyrace course for Stage Five. Palante, a 50-year-old veteran racer, was taking part in his 11th Dakar Rally in the amateur class on a Honda CRF450X, when he failed to make it to the stage’s finish line.
Palante’s body was found on the race course from Chilecito and San Miguel by a sweep truck that was searching for hiim, however the circumstances around his death have not been confirmed by investigators. The Dakar Rally is always a treacherous undertaking, and the loss of a competitor is a regrettable reality of the iconic rally raid.
Palante is survived by his wife and five children. Asphalt & Rubber wishes them and the rest of Eric’s family and friends our condolences. Ride in peace brother.

Cheers!

BMW Recalls over 50000 motorcycles for possible fuel leak in America
BMW America has recalled 51000 motorcycles after an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about a possible fuel leak. The effected motorcycles are from the period of 2005-11. The bikes belong to the K and R series.
The NHTSA started investigating consumers complaints around 14 months back and finally BMW have decided to recall these motorcycles to check and rectify the issue. Though BMW claim that this problem would not pose an unreasonable risk to the rider.
