This is good news for some of us who have been waiting!
I just want to know if they could have another service centre somewhere close in mumbai!!! Have been licking the factory manual, but the way the things are packed in there is mesmerizing!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Wow, that's awesome news but will this do justice to improve sales. Who knows, May be they are planning on setting up an assembly plant too
which will make lot of biker's dream of owning a Ducati come true !
Young riders pick a destination and go, Old riders pick a direction and go !

One can IMPORT the entire motorcycle as such = CBUOriginally posted by NikhilB View Postuhhh... noob question, i guess... Whats the difference between a CBU and an Import?
One can IMPORT entire parts & assemble the motorcycle = CKD/SKD
May be Satyen was trying to say CBU by importSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

precisely what I thought... But why prefer SKD over CKD? Wouldn't CKD be cheaper? (Assuming India is used as an export base, the only case when CKD would make sense)Originally posted by aargee View PostOne can IMPORT the entire motorcycle as such = CBU

Ducati setting up an assembling plant in India seems very difficult in the next x years.
Hence what I meant was this..
Route it as CKD\SKD to the nearest country. Make it sweeter if that nearest country has a FTA with us and more so if that country is also a parts supplier to Ducati.
When it reaches India, it comes as a CBU from that country!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Personally, I prefer a SKD because most of the important components will be assembled to precise engineering abroad & there's no room for juggads.Originally posted by NikhilB View PostBut why prefer SKD over CKD?
