I'm confused. Is impracticality not an issue unless the TVS designs it?

Just heard from a pretty reliable source[Zen TVS], the new launch has a 220cc 4 valve head, no idea if it liquid cooled, I assume YES. No idea abt launch date.

I dunno why TVS did not go for a fully blown 250 and blow away the competition, they just want to be followers and not the leaders

TVS already makes and sells a "Liquid Cooled" 150 cc Step Thru model called the "Tormax 150" in Indonesia. Maybe we can expect a "Liquid Cooled" motorcycle for India as well.

Alas after so many years in business they are still "about" to launch a 220cc Bike...

Dude, that bike in that pic wont come into production, look at the apache and TVS font, its obviously a roadside mod... this has been discussed a few times on the forums...
And if at all TVS launches a fully faired bike, they will think about practicality issues... dont worry.

220 this would be interesting. Chicane had posted that TVS is targeting a very high specific output. Let us hope this puts the bike somewhere close to the KTM 200's league... but am just speculating.

Fully agreed about the last part!!

The new offering would have also an option of ABS!!

Sure, why not 4 cylinders, 20 valves, dual exhausts??

Autocar India mentions that the revised Apache RTR's might primarily get cosmetic changes (Hyperedge Ishtyle) and not "mechanical/engine related" changes.

But if I have to believe Chicane's claim.. I am getting a feeling that TVS might be tempted to try a 200 cc, 20 + Ps, liquid cooled engine.

                      What say?

That would be quite easy for TVS to make, but they are not even giving a hint about something like that...

The maximum i'm expecting these guys to do is to launch the velocity without any change to the engine...
If they were planning for a higher cc bike or a liquid cooled bike, we would have had some spy pics...

I'm guessing they would add something like a semi fairing(for ease of touring) to the current 180cc...

I feel expecting these guys to launch a completely new bike before june2012 is a waste of time.

If TVS doesn't revamp its range with so many new brands making their way to india, TVS is gonna lose a large portion of its market share.

Like i mentioned earlier in the thread, the upcoming launch is a cosmetic makeover only. And only the 180 will be getting the said update. I am expecting Velocity's design theme to appear in this very update.

And also there is no 220cc on works, only a 200cc motorcycle which will have all the bells and whistles. Dont be surprised if 3V-Twin spark combo appears. As per initial reports, they are targeting more than 20+PS. The bike can be expected to be quicker than the P220 for sure but by how much would be the question. Which also means that CBR and KTM are now safe as i dont see any threat from the 200cc(in acceleration/quarter mile runs), Sigh!!

PS: 200cc launch is still many months away!!

                                Yes i know!!

This is as per today's update.

As always TVS is trying to play safe. They had different configuration/setups under development and only the 200cc is the one which has got the go-ahead.
