  • rtr 180 costs 82k rs on road here, with additional 5k price tag it falls close to p220,so rtr is now pricey.
and the question remains why do i race?
every finishing line is the begining of a new race.

#i don't subscribe to co-incidence,either it is the rider or the other moron on the road

(:)people keeps on saying add spark to life, bajaj got hold of that idea and added an extra spark to bike.

Hope to get this done at SVC or I will get parts from spares shop and get it done outside.
No I have DC convertors, need to get it full DC before any trip is planned. APE RR unit costs 1100INR here, plus 500 of rewinding and other stuffs. if you want I will PM you the threads which will help you converting RTR into DC

@Sayank : No offense but was there any need to compare "again" with pulsar? Lets keep the thread up to its name and minimum off topics

i am not comparing it with pulsar,ok lets rephrase it for the sake of your better understanding.new rtr is priced close to old rtr abs,so new rtr is definitely pricey, and i guess i am definitely not going off-topic.

Swapping the RR will not do any good as I think the headlight is 35w, so the RR will be designed to power 35w bulb only.

              Really?

I don't know if the comment was meant to be sarcastic or you really felt that way, but having owned an RTR before and still opting for the same seems like a no brainer to me. It's a brilliant city bike mind you but don't the other two awesome options entice you more? The newer RTR does seem to have lost out on it's novelty, but maybe that's just me saying it

              • The Duke is - Expensive to "Own"
Having clocked 16000KMs on the Ninja650 in <6months of ownership, I do not want to buy another "premium" product and end up at the mercy of PBK for both my bikes.

The Impulse is Superb at places and boring in some, the RTR is like the old love that you keep going back to! So unless something radical happens I could go back to cheap thrills, which is BEST done by a RTR!

Even FZ has DC and a 35 watt bulb, people are simply plonking 55 watt bulbs and running them... Or may be i'm misinformed...
I need some clarity on this.

I need some clarity on this.
Plugging a 50/60 watts headlight in place of 35/35 w is possible if the Electrical power capacity and Battery can take it...for example in a ZMA this is possible without any modification due to 188 watts generation and a 6/7 amperes battery...so a generation of at least 90 to 100 watts is essential to take care of the higher load..since at lower RPM the generation will be less than specs..It is above 3K RPM that the generator will be able to meet the spec in watts(& Amperes) capacity.

                    Watts = Voltage X Amperes.

                    Hope this helps.

                      Thanks for the reply.
Till now what i understood is something like this...
Swap the RR unit, and replace the battery with the sufficient capacity...
                      Is that all?
Now the question is, will a bigger capacity battery fit into my bike and if yes, which battery is it exactly?

Sorry for going slightly off topic
I'm sure this will be helpful for other RTR owners who want to convert to DC without any hassles.

in ac bikes coil output is not sufficient to power a 55w bulb , fz with full dc can handle it but rtr will struggle . swapping rr wont do much good if the coil is not producing enoigh current . apache also already has a 9amp battery so cant go any bigger n anyway it wont benifit much . to make rtr full dc u need to rewind coil and put a full wave/full dc rectifier .

Nothing more than an exterior touch. The Apache fans might be disappointed with the new looks. The new looks aren't as aggressive as the current one. TVS needs to play the game better.

Impulse with the engine I presume.

All said, yes, the RTR makes sense but with cheap spares, brilliant engine and chassis and features. But the new one just kills a whole lot of it for me. Im sure it's a much improved version, nice little worthy upgrades which I actually like but with a whole lot of unwanted bulky plastic and carbon-fibre look alikes everywhere.
