  • Killer pricing by Bajaj!!

With this launch, it is certain that Bajaj-KTM venture is serious about their plans. On-road price of arnd 1.3 for a 25PS machine is spot-on and with the slew of other features it just cant get any better than this.

Now its the actual on -road performance of this machine is what should keep it apart from the competition and that is what I am looking forward to!!

i agree for indian market the accessories are very expensive. but i just got a sticker kit from germany and the rate in germany is pretty much the same like here.
i wonder why they are importing those accessories instead of getting them made locally for a more attractive rate.
maybe just a question of time till they will have started manufacturing them here i hope.

          You missed "Mono shock suspensions"
But he at least gave a good all round view of the bike.

What is the compression ratio now? And it isn't detuned either, still 25 bhp .

And so any real quotes of "kitna deti hai" from our dear salesmen.
Also what about the rev-limiter - is it still @10k? Any brochures...

              • Kudos to Bajaj for understanding the needs of the Indian Rider and coming up with such an amazing bike. For all the other Manufacturers, this is how you sell bikes in India.

KTM Duke 200 is expected to give a mileage of about 30 KM/L.
So we can expect it to give 25 in the city and a little more on the highway.

I am waiting for Pulsar 200 launch on 30th January.

                  • @Rahul.galvi: Power parts will be imported that's why they are expensive.
Why are they imported? Because bigger dukes use SAME power parts and that's why they are being made in the first place. It's just that Duke 200 can use many of them because it's similarities to bigger Dukes.

                    • Fantastic bike at a super price. At least a super price for now! Plus bringing the accessories at the very launch is a masterstroke. I hope the price remains sensible as the sales grow. And KTM turns out to be reliable as the Ninja. 95% indigenous truly scares me! Hope we get owner reviews soon on xBhp.

But why is everyone writing obituaries for R15s and CBRs and what not?? Every new bike that gets launched, there is a flurry of excitement until the sales figures speak. Is it not possible that instead of cannibalizing sales, KTM simply grows the market more? Though i kinda agree with R15 doing lesser sales with increased competition. There is no replacement for cubic capacity! It could do with a price cut now esp if the CBR150 is launched around 1lac OTR.

For someone who wants a bike for its face value, every new bike is the best! But those who want a faired bike will always want a faired bike. Those who want a naked will always want a naked street. And those who want a fast bike that can seat a pillion will end up buying the CBR! They have all been designed with a purpose. KTM200 & R15 practically do not seat 2. I've sat pillion on R15V2.0 for a few kms and man that was scary. That seat seriously is for arm candy kinds college chicks and not for someone who weighs 80kgs! But R15 is seriously fun for an enthusiast and a CBR is nice on highways. They have a purpose and so does the KTM.

I see KTM to usher in the affordable performance street category that didn't really have much options except Pulsars. Its a brilliant option for those who ride mostly in the city and do occasional 100km trips. But for those who really trip as in TRIP, i'm sure CBR will remain a sensible choice.

Check the KTM 125 website, that bike has been mentioned to give 30 kmpl, so for the 200 anything between 20 to 25 in full rip mode

I asked the people on Honda stand at Auto Expo for CBR 150 R. They told me that CBR 150 R will be launched in the month of April with the price of 1,10,000 to 1,15,000(ex showroom) price Delhi. And now when KTM Duke 200 has been launched Honda will definitely have to rethink their strategy.

                          • I'll skip this one because from my current ride it doesn't look like an upgrade. And a 350cc is on horizon already.
As many duke 125 owner crying out of issues like malfunction, electronics etc, I'm suspecting this 200cc also fall in the line as most of its parts are borrowed from 125cc.

                            • 125 Duke's millage is said to be not a rev friendly. Same 125cc Duke gives avg of 25 kpl if ridden at 100kph+ and 40 kpl if ridden at 60-80.

Expect 200cc's millage will vary between 22 - 35 upon ride styles.

Not obituaries, but certainly CBR250/R15 will take a hit in sales, more so in case of R15. Now, Honda will be in a tough situation with CBR150, if they price above 1 Lakh ex-showroom, most of the buyers would atleast think about Duke 200. More over, soon to be launched Pulsar 200 (i'm sure it will be priced below 1 lakh) will make things that much complicated for CBR150, might as well say it's dead before even launch as it's attacked from both sides by capable bikes, simply put CBR150's fate purely depends on it's pricing. No one will give it a second look even if it's slightly over priced. Oh, by the way, I expect Yamaha to respond with price cut on R15.
