Plastic quality is good. Nuts bolts I did not notice . Paint quality is very good. The black sides of the knee recess has a matte black finish. Plastics in one of my cars is definitely better than the Duke 200. If you are comparing it to crude cars like Maruti 800 / Mahindra (Renault Logan) Verito / Tata Indica then Yes, plastics on the Duke are better .

@Antique Blue I got the quotation from Probiking Bund Garden Road. Ask for Yogesh. You need to register with the Probiking website / server from there itself to get the quotation.

        Edit: The Quotation:

The fiber used to make the tank is of a very high quality standards as I had to actually tap on it to make out that its not a metal but a fiber. The stickers merge well with the body too so it gives it a very seamless finish.

              • Simply Superb bike..

                Just checked it today..

                - Big fat looks from the front, headlight a bit small looking, but a 55/55W bulb(along with 8ah battery) should cope up with the illumination part.
                - side profiles look sporty bcoz of its lengthier looks than other market bikes.
                - big fat bike looks bcoz of 150/60 rear tyre
                - "fully loaded" console shows SOOOOO many things..2 trip meters, avg. speed, mileage, kms to service, kms to empty, engine temp, etc.
                - Meaty USD forks.
                - Rear mono-shock is smooth, 5 way adjustable i guess.
                - rear tyre hugger adds to the beauty from the rear.
                - TOP NOTCH plastic parts.
                - LED indicators were just WOW.
                - Pillion seat not as small as it seems.
                - Coolant level indicator.
                - & ofcourse KTM brand value ..

Overall a very good bike for the value(1.30 L on road).

@Anant: Good work with the quotation 1.30 L looks good for this bike.

                • The Mileage is really dissapointing. I really expected it to be atleast btw 35-40 with the lesser weight and all but as the experts here are saying if it only gives between 25-30 then my dream of owning it is gone as my parents would insist me to stick with the my diesel car. And before the enthusiasts here starts berating about how much better it would feel driving the Duke, i already know that but u cant deny the fact that it is an important factor especially for people like me who are dependent on there parents and for that reason i think R15 will still get its customers and CBR150 too (as i read it has a mileage of 50 something..not sure i read in XBHP) so ppl who r saying they are dead are not considering the mileage as a factor

but anyway i really envy the ones who are lucky enuf to own a duke..wishing u a happy ownership

but for me its time to reconsider CBR250 and R15v2

Actually the bulb is a 55/60. And thank you

Totally Agreed...... Why not do a good comparison and talk about the plus points of the bike rather than talking non sense about other bikes.

                          • @Harsh & strikepackage: Exactly, this is a habit of sorts to instantly start writing off the competition when something new comes with competitive performance and price and is desirable. When cbr250r was launched, similar predictions were made against ninja 250 as well, but we all know now that it has still has it's own share in the market. And anybody who likes fairings is not a poser either! Unless someone just wants to show off which can be done by getting any vehicle not meant for mass market. Anyone who is aware of the wonderful advantage that a good fairing provides at high speeds will still consider and go for r15, cbr250, cbr150 or ninja irrespective whether there's 1 ktm or thousands of them. Considering that the predicted/claimed top speed and fuel efficiency of ktm are less than that of cbr's, cbr will still be the preferred choice for consistent high speed riding. And when you are riding at 130kph on cbr and ktm, the cbr will provide more relaxed riding experience at such speeds due to considerable wind protection that ktm will fail to provide. At 130kph, the wind blast is pretty good enough to unsettle the rider and eventually the motorcycle even when the motorcycle is pretty stable by itslf. This sort of advantage is also shared by the r15 and the upcoming cbr150r. These are pretty decent factors considered by anyone who likes consistent and relaxed high speed riding. But yes, on city streets, ktm will be extremely hard to compete with by the competition.

Edit: ktm's fuel efficiency may be similar to cbr's. But it still has a smaller fuel tank

                            • This now is a worthy 2nd bike for the liter(+/-) class bike owners who reluctantly have to sit out the entire rainy season as the track oriented tyres on their bikes do not offer enough traction . A Ninja 250R would be too much money and effort to put into the 2nd bike. The CBR 250R would really be too unappealing, an R15 would be one with too little torque and a P220 would be too low tech for their preference .

For the commoners, the one drawback I could think of is that since this is essentially an EU bike, this could be quite dear in terms of maintenance (Buy a Skoda/VW and you will know). The overall reliability might also be a notch lower vis a vis the Japanese competition. Thats the price you pay for the cutting edge tech, excellent handling and excellent engines(as far as EU cars are concerned). If you have cheap upkeep your priority Numero Uno, you buy Pulsar! Simple as that!

But since this is coming from the BAL plant and is 95% indegenous, para #2 might just well be a load of crap and I might be left with a foot in my mouth. The fact remains, we really do not know how much this will cost to own since none of these are on the road and so we have no idea about service costs as yet. What we do know is that it is an excellent product especially for the money it is offered for. Regardless of whether it has a fairing or not.

                              • actually German cars are just as reliable as their Jap counterparts.ur thinking bout exotic European bikes.they are said to be expensive to maintain.I wouldn't know of course

we have to see if duke is as reliable as japs In the long run.killer pricing as of now anyway.r15 is just getting it harder to live by everyday.ESP once cbr150r comes.
