Actually it is the Duke 125 which is restricted to 75 MPH (approx 120kmph) but can easily go to 80 mph if unrestricted. Duke 200 is 73% more powerful but it weighs the exact same as the Duke 125. Thats the reason I was always puzzled by the 135 kph figure and had also suggested that people might use smaller sprockets. Now MG puts the speculations to rest. Anyways if the peak power was at 10k RPM, the redline and consequently the revlimiter HAD TO BE RAISED over that no.Originally posted by zincha View PostAdvice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I visited the Kanjurmarg Probiking on Republic day, saw the bike, spoke to the sales staff, and booked it.
I am 6 feet tall, and both my feet were perfectly on the ground, at full stretch, when I sat on it. It is not a small bike, though it is easy to manipulate it as its weight is centered under the rider.
The engine note is quieter than pulsars, but distinctive.. more treble than bass, but very revv-happy. Reminded me of the two-strokes.
The seating position is upright, handlebars are perfectly placed, and foot rests are almost rearset...though still comfortable. For someone as tall as I am, the tank will strike my knees more often than not. taller guys will have to practice their splits. For me, it fit like a glove. Any taller, and I would have trouble in the regular sitting position with my knees banging the slots on the tank.
The rest of the bike has been talked about enough, I imagine. Though what immediately struck me, was the light weight it has. I have experience with all sorts of bikes, from karizma's to bullets, RD's to MT-01's, but none of them felt this light with me on it, and none of them had the weight so centered under me.
The tank capacity is the only sore point, but power parts should overcome this. How the bike would look with a larger capacity tank, whether it will seem disproportionate to the entire design, is something I do not know.
The trellis frame, and the packed engine area are slightly intimidating at first...I have horror stories with my zma, and how difficult it was to access the head bolts etc...am pretty sure the same situation will exist here, as the engine area is simply massive, and the available area for tools etc, are not as much as say, the enfields/yamaha's that we are used to.
Front radiator shrouds on both sides are cheap plastics, and the demo bike I saw, did not inspire any confidence wrt their longevity. These will be the first to be replaced I guess.
Seat is very wide, and comfy. I dont anticipate any issues wrt their usability. Material used for their covers is grippy enough.
Front and rear indicators are tiny, as compared to the rest of the bike. Almost too small. But with LED's in them, they work well.
Front forks are massive, both in width and length. Rear suspension has 10 pre-load adjustments, and was very soft in the demo bike. The staff assured me it can be stiffened.
Cable quality all around is excellent. Connectors are great. Wiring is barely visible, that too only under careful scrutiny.
The KTM branding all over the bike looks bold and I love it. Waiting for delivery is going to be difficult as usual.Four strokes move my body, two strokes move my soul.

The exhaust openings of the Royal Enfield models are placed at an equally low height (if not higher). But they still cross the slush and water on the way to LEH every, year don't they?Originally posted by soulonaroll View PostLots of folks will be wanting to ride this offroads and maybe even take it to ladakh.
Given the height and the angle of the exhaust do you think it will survive the water crossings and slush?
Just for the record, the Thunderbird's got a ground clearance of 135 mm compared to the 200 Duke's 165 mm!!

So.. even if the exhaust seems placed right under the chasis, the clearance hieght is more than others... great!!Originally posted by payengThe exhaust openings of the Royal Enfield models are placed at an equally low height (if not higher). But then Bikerni gang crossed some high levels on the 500
This are the water levels in Aug-Sept, the earlier where from our in July 2011
So I dont think a general statement can be made if this bike will be able or unable to make it through this crossings. Until someone actually tests it

Thanks for sharing all the details. How the pillion seat in person? Can it take a full size man? Or a girl?Originally posted by shrek View PostI visited the Kanjurmarg Probiking on Republic day, saw the bike, spoke to the sales staff, and booked it.

Hey guyss.... I've came to know that Duke 200 does not have handle bar end weights..

Is having/not having has any advantages??

Pillion seat is big enough for anybody. However, it might not be comfortable, as it is much higher than the rider, and the pillion foot rests are much higher. This will never be as comfortable as an enfield for the pillion. However, for short distances, it is fine in my opinion. At first glance however, I did not think the pillion seat will be able to bear much weight, the frame does seem to be hanging in the air, so to speak! But, such is the design I guess.Originally posted by jalva View PostThanks for sharing all the details. How the pillion seat in person? Can it take a full size man? Thanks buddy. I am hoping that the light weight trellis frame can take a pillion and a top box through potholed roads!Originally posted by shrek View PostPillion seat is big enough for anybody. Oh.... Okay ... thanks for helping me outttOriginally posted by payeng View PostBar end weights help reduce the vibration to the rider's palms.. maybe the 200 Duke doesn't need them.
