People here seem to be obsessed with high powered bikes but india in general still rides frugal. Also 1L,2L etc is still a big amount to buy bikes for commuting. And 100 or 150 is not gonna die so soon also technology improvement also still leaves a lot to be desired even in this segments.
Ninja and cbr are not yet commuter bikes are they?
So i think forget 250 hero even has scope for more 150's

Why do we think that there will be no other 250 cc bike by the time Hero launches their own.
Bajaj might be definetly working on the lower end motorcycle on their new 375 cc platform. Rumors on TVS 250 never end.
Suzuki might launch their 250 cc bike in Indian which is already launched in other countries. Many others like Triumph and Hyosung are already working on bikes in this segment for India. So expect this segment to be flooded very soon before Hero is ready in 2014.Comment

The Suzuki 250 makes less power than Duke (almost same as 200NS) and is heavier than 200NS. I don't see it making any substantial sales in India unless it is priced at par with R15 / ZMR or slightly lower, something thats highly unlikely. MUMBAI: Two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorpBSE 0.83 % Ltd said on Monday its wholly owned unit in the United States has agreed to buy a 49.2 per cent stake in superbike company Erik Buell Racing for $25 million.
As part of the agreement, Hero MotoCorp's U.S. unit has invested $15 million in Erik Buell on June 28, and the remaining $10 million will be paid within nine months, the Indian company said in a statement to theBombay Stock Exchange.
