Seriously? 250s are just entering the market and Liquid cooled at that, and you think it may get outdated even before it has a chance to warm up?Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Postthis is good but..hold on!! "2014??" won't it be too late for a Liquid cooled 250CC bike in Indian market??
We have millions of 100/150 cc archaic design motorcycles for decades and still going strong. And considering more are being launched as we speak, they will be here for another decade or two with some cosmetic upgrades
. let alone liquid cooled 250s.

Indias first 150cc bike (TVS+Suzuki Feiro) was launched way back in 2000... The segment only got popular after CBZ and then the Pulsar.Originally posted by 111diablo111 View Postthis is good but..hold on!! "2014??" won't it be too late for a Liquid cooled 250CC bike in Indian market??
And what all do we have in that segment now>
A 3Lakh - Learner - Ninja250
A 3Lakh - Sporty vTwin - GT250
A 2Lakh - Touring - CBR250R
and soon an
Off roading - 250CC
Still think 2014 would be too late?
We have a HUGE list of 150cc variants which still sell! How I hope that segment graduates to 250cc!Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

"Entering" in that segment will be a late entry according to me as already few manufacturers have showed up their presence in Indian market..& also "most" people are criticizing even Yamaha for not bringing their 250cc bike in competition..don't know if others think that 2014 will be the right time for HMC to introduce their 250CC bike..ya may be HMC might get few remaining buyers who would like to upgrade their 150's even at that time..
& now a days its not the same market condition in India like back then in 2000's when CBZ used to rule the market..now a days people buy CBR & their comes Duke..& then GT250R & then all new Ninja,in a same segment..we are getting different options in different segment after every couple of months..now a new segment won't last a decade like 150cc segment did last whole decade..& even then many manufacturers will launch 150cc bikes too let alone 250cc bikes but it has to be something special till that time(just like R15 did in 150cc segment) otherwise they all should be considered as late entry in the segment..Last edited by 111diablo111; 08-22-2012, 08:08 PM.Suzuki Gixxer - Current

+1 on the last line. And theres a lot of "special" voids missing in this segment (and would be likely to stay like that till 2014)Super CommuTOURer - Talk less, Ride more

Hero to phase out recent products with Honda Tech.
This is going to be interesting. The article:-
NEW DELHI: They may be newly-launched products, but Hero MotoCorp has said it will phase out Impulse and Ignitor motorcycles and Maestro scooter after some time as they have been launched with technology assistance from erstwhile partner Honda Motor Co of Japan.
Pawan Munjal, MD of Hero MotoCorp, said the company wants an independent robust R&D set-up, for which it has stitched up a new technology agreement with a European design and technology provider - its third such partner since its split from Honda last year. He said going forward, Hero MotoCorp wants to develop products with its new partners so that it can replace those developed with Honda.
Hero, that is setting up an integrated R&D centre near Jaipur with an investment of 400 crore, has been getting aggressive in firming up alliances to guarantee new technology flow after the departure of Honda. Munjal did not disclose the name of the new European partner. In February, the company announced a partnership with US superbike company Erik Buell Racing (EBR), and in March signed a research deal with Austrian engine manufacturer AVL.
Munjal said Hero MotoCorp intends to purchase equity in the technology companies in future. "We are just getting to know each other and seeing what we can get from these companies. As we move along, we may purchase a stake in them, beginning with a minority stake. Ultimately, the idea is to have them as an extended arm of our R&D set-up at Jaipur."
While the company launched the 150cc 'on-road-off-road' bike Impulse in October last year, the 125cc Ignitor and the Meastro scoooter were launched this year. "We are already working with our alliance partners for a new on/off bike. This could be similar to or much better than Impulse."
After discontinuing these products, Hero MotoCorp will save on royalty payouts to Honda. Munjal, however, said that blockbuster models like Splendor and Passion, also developed using Honda's technology, will not be phased out as they have been in the market for long. "All models before Impulse will stay. Royalty payouts for them will end in 2014."
"The new partner that we have tied up with will help us in aligning to new emission norms that come in from 2015. With AVL, we will work on engines while EBR will be used for developing certain kinds of bikes and other products like hybrid scooter."

Dude you seems you are not in sync with whats happening around you.....Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostWhy bajaj invested in KTM...???
Why EBR joined hands with hero....???

KTM and BAJAJ both developed 125cc and 200CC engine in their R&D facility at Pune....and they are currently in developing 350cc vtwin motor for our INDIA and Export market.
And your question on "Why Bajaj invested in KTM" is to enter European market which BAJAJ has not explored...Its all about business and making money.
You have to blame Hero for being so laidback...even after so many years they don't have a R&D facility????

I think it's 375cc parallel twin, atleast that was what mentioned multiple times in some of the previous threads. And yeah it's for Bajaj and KTM, done by Bajaj at it's Pune R&D centre.Originally posted by abhi7013 View PostBajaj and a 350cc v-twin?
