At present, a single tyre from Metzelers costs 12K. So a tyre change will set you back by 24K atleast. And being soft compound I don't see this lasting more than 15K kms at the most.

you have got wrong information, see the styling is same but not the components
each and every component must be changed to match new power and load from frame to brakes to horn everything has to be upgraded to new strength.
eventhough the bike looks similar to D200 but not many components are of same strength and durability.
so rumored price of 2.5L is very good , ofcourse if it falls short of this amount its even better. but my strong hunch is that might might be priced around 2.2L ex-show
and to offset the price P350 might be priced well below 2L mark.
tell me any bike with 250cc + has price less than 2L ? [excluding CBR without ABS] - its None , fact CBR ABS costs 2.1L and GTR costs 3.4L and N250R costs 3.7L . so D390 might score big on pricing.

I give lot of importance to tyres, so if they are as or more sticky than those I had on my R15 v1 (which gave great grip in the wet as well) I'm willing to spend 12K on one tyre.
Although I'll be changing them one after the other and not together

Are you serious? People are willing to pay 3.30 for a 250 cc, 33 bhp unit and 1.80 for a 250 single with abs but it is too much to pay just 2.5 for a 390cc 44 bhp unit? Like i mentioned earlier that is almost twice the bike and hence the increased price.

Besides I feel it would keep most of these hatchlings away till they are mature enough to ride these.
can pay 2.5 lac, but it must be fully loaded version :
    1. abs that can be switched off
    2. Metzeler tyres
    3. Orange frame and wheels (yes am willing to pay extra for that if they offer me an option)

Duke 200 that goes by 1.4 lacs delhi, add 30 k for abs (switchable), 10 k for tyres, frame and suspensions components, not to mention engine, 1 lac premium is ok. though i do wish they keep wheel rim size same as d200 so we can put mrf rubber down the line, if it proves to be tyre destroyer. dont want a bill of 15 k every year for tyres.

Just to requote an age old saying "with greater power comes greater responsibility" - we have power and we have people who can lay their hands on that power. But do those people have the capability to handle that power responsibly? Every day I come across so many posers without even the most basic safety gear like a helmet - zipping maniacally through traffic and threatening the safety and sanity of other riders/drivers.

    BTW, are bookings already open?

It looks exactly like Duke 200, so no differentiation in terms of looks. It shares most of its components with Duke 200. The only different features are engine and ABS and I don't think these two things alone should take the price high by a lakh !! Of course, Bajaj can price it anyway they want, but 2.5 is a little too much in my opinion.

Its not just engine and abs.
    New bits
    1. Engine- this isn't a bored out 200. Its a whole new engine.

    2. Abs- Honda charges 20k for just abs that can't be switched off.

    3. Frame - the basic geometry may be similar but the material used is different.

3.suspension- to manage extra oomph and the weight. Suspension are different as well.

Hence in 1 lakh more u get a lot of things. Its not expensive its a bargain IMO. I if they would have worked on the styling it could have been the whole package. But again I don't like the styling on the 690 if they were going to head that way. 200 styling is much better(again IMO)

Lol. This bike is EXACTLY what my riding style demands

I am never buying a bike from the first lot. Or even second lot. Made that mistake once, never again.

Will wait for a few months for the hungama to die down. (And hopefully by then there will be some news about the bigger Honda's)

Officially, not yet. Some places like Delhi the dealers have started bookings.

But technically till the bike is launched and therefore a price announced its not really an official booking.

Well the staff that manages the stalls at corporate locations generally don't know much about the product. The dealer would always have information that's more reliable.
Anyways, 2.5L is my threshold, I can't go beyond that anyways...hopefully I don't have to compromise as far as the price is concerned.
Where in Delhi have you booked your bike?

Ive booked mine in KTM Lajpat Nagar and was quoted a price of under Rs. 2.5 lac on road.

I guess 2.2 might not b possible since we r expecting ABS as well.

BTW Official bookings have not commenced till date so no clarification on prices.

they have not kept it for display, 2 D200s were on display. but still i feel 2.5L is little expensive when compared to KTM's pricing in other European countries...
