Good move from bajaj there, mono shock and petal disk is a welcome change. And seems very nicely powered too.

Loved the styling by the way..

        the bike looks good. ..
        1) with two persons sitting on it the tear end looks a bit small, is it a bit shorter then earlier discover.?
        2) still comes with front disk cover. why
        3) metallic shield on black exhaust can.? why?
        4) are they using pulsar 135's engine. . . somewhat modified and changed?
        5) which will be costly - p135 or d125 ??
        6) peak power and torque produced at such high rpm's -is it still a commuter bike?

        7) don't tell me ST means sports tourer...

        overall good product.

I believe they concluded this from the top speed of 105 kph which is less than that of Pulsar 135LS. In fact, if this bike is indeed short geared, this is a good thing as the acceleration figures will be better (something easily perceived by the targeted customers than top speed).

Good move by Bajaj, so I guess the old Disco 125 dts-i still says. Coz, with this new 4-valve engine & monoshock, I don't think Bajaj is going to price it at the same level. What's with sports tourer moniker though? could have simply called it as Discover ex (executive) or something like that. I like how they always look to up the ante, competition is always made to catch up!! by the way, does this mean an upgrade for P135LS is around the corner? at least a monoshock?

the wheelbase is same for d150 and the d125st

i hate the front disc cover too...

the engine is same as the d125(124.6cc) with just a 4 valve and may be modified cam n stuff

i guess p135 will still be costlier as the new disco doesnt have much except 2 more holes on the engine head and a monoshock may be priced a little lower than p135..its a pulsar after all and that is a discover.
however both have similar tech specs and this new disco doesnt seem to be a commuter anymore...or may be they are trying to change the mindset of the city commuter by introducing such a bike

many are confused including me which is better now? a p135 or a d125st?

the top speed differs only b a little..earlier claims told up that this bike went upto 108kph with still juice left in it now company now claims 105

s a minor little change in top speed how come gearing is so different with similar power torque figures at similar rpm

There is only 1 thread. Its name was changed twice.

@Supermods / Admins We need a proper Test Ride + First Impressions for this one. Not your regular run-of-the-mill commuter this one.

yes its a very good move by BAL but i don't think the old discos ( 150 and 125) are gonna stay for long... might go for about an year or so may atleast that is what i can figure out for now...Rajiv's product related strategies are getting implemented and as promised by him the bajaj product portfolio is getting more stabilized and getting fixed as these are the signs of it. i am thinking that there could be a slight possibility that the current p135 as well as some other models (including pulsar and discover brand named) could be seeing the axe soon. its sad but there are two sides to a coin

It looks like bajaj want to make thir brands synonymous with the word - 'power' !
As Mr. Bajaj said early its evident that they are trying to capitalize on what they can deliver. When companies like honda and hero are serving what people are happy with. Bajaj is trying to demand them to gnaw ahead. But this may not work all the time.

a 13ps 125cc commuter suggests that 150cc sibling if maid any more may make some 15ps(which is more than cbz, fz, dazzler, gs 150 and will be close to the so called ground braking power of rtr160)

But this will not really demand an upgrade to above bikes. however what will do so is a new p150 NS. we can expect some 17.5 ps easily i think.

There is still a huge market for 75k 150cc bike. so let the game be beafed up. that fz will be delicious with a beefier motor!

The Current P150 already makes 15PS. And IF the P150NS with a perimeter frame will make 17.5PS at 75-80k ish, What will the 150cc LC competition bikes do (You know which ones I am hinting to )?

Yeah bajaj knows their game better than anybody else!

Only-thing is the frame/chassis should be lighter for for 150. bike should weigh 130-135 and u know what i am talking about may be some bikes will vanish or will stop production until the guys from buell get enough time.

Hmmm, if they price it at anything more than the normal 125cc bike, this bike will not go the distance. Daring, I must say. But they may have just experimented with the wrong segment. How many folks willing to buy a 125cc can you possible convince about the advantages of a 4-Valve? A person does not buy a 125cc to see 100kmph reading on his speedo with no evident strain from the engine!

                            Just my opinion though.

Your opinion is right to some extent. its highly depend on how bajaj manages to educate people in 40ies.

I think they are making boxer just for the least informed people.
But its not easy for bajaj or anybody to steal hero's sales until hero forgets their vinyl manufacturing technologies.hero is living in hearts of lacks of people. but Honda can do the job i think.

IMO, nobody can affect Hero's sales atleast for another couple of years..but if they get affected, that means avg customer is looking for more than a 100cc with decent mileage. Obviously Bajaj is well placed to reap the benefit.

This is a good move by Bajaj, but it needs to be backed with some unrelenting marketing stuff. They need to push this bike a lot, so that masses can make a note of it, altleast include this in their list if not buy it right away. This is not your conventional run of mill bike, so they need to highlight the advantages and let people know why this is a far better choice than the outdated bikes that are selling right now in this segment.
