  • The newest Discover 125 DTSi came 2nd in the 125cc shootout conducted by Overdrive soon after its launch in May '11. But that loss was only marginal.

It did however turn out to be the best bike 'to buy' since it was Rs.6k (or nearly 15%) cheaper than the bike that stood First (Honda Shine).

Considering the fact that no 'All-New' 125cc bikes have been launched by any other manufacturers after the Discover 125 DTSi launch last year, AND the 125ST is a generation ahead of the Discover 125 DTSi, we can safely predict which bike will ace the 1/8th liter head-to-head comparo if one is conducted after including the Discover 125ST.

Eagerly waiting for the 1st impressions and then proper road-tests to come from guys whose reviews I actually bother reading/watching (xBHP, Overdrive, PTR).
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

    • On what basis did the Shine overthrew this one? Sry , I didnt read the review, but, monoshock,4-valve and similar mileage ,and still Honda wins? Common Yamaha, bring the R125 and stay up there. I hate Honda

      • he was refering to the discover 125...not the ST version...the review was done back in 2011...i dont feel the D125ST has any competition right now...unless some people are inclined to go for another bike just because "some" people have made up in their mind that bajaj has a bad reputation for quality of parts and for how long the bikes will serve u...but seriously performance hungr people arent going to keep the same bike for 10-15 years...exceptions excluded.

When can we expect XBHP first impressions?

almost a month has passed since the launch...

Shine didn't beat the Discover 125ST. As Mayank says, the review is from August '11, so it marginally beat the 125DTSi, I.e. The current Discover 125.

Unfortunately As long as there will be 2 Discover 125s, such confusions will keep happening . This is the only bit BAL has to work on. If the new 125 comes out, one of the old bikes has to go.

similar mileage? my friend has a honda shine which gives him 50 kmpl(used to give 55 before he changed to fatter rear tyres.. shine has the same thin twister tyres)

the pulsar 135 gives approx 60

my guess d125ST shud be giving more than this...

btw any one knows what the BAL claimed for d125st? may be during launch or somewhere else?

Yamaha already has a 125cc in market, and is the best performer of the segment(along with stunner) and the most refined(free revving) engine of the segment but New ST is going to change more than a few things .

Personally, I expect this one to be priced between 50K to 55k ex-showroom.. (it should be more like 50k ex-showroom looking at P135LS pricing), should be out in open by this month end.
well to be honest i'm badly confused my friend community is suggesting to buy Cb Twister as more reliable when it comes to FE.. as this bike is MY FIRST BIKE i want it to be perfect.. I've seen reviews whee cb twister is the bike to have after followed by cb shine.. I'm totally going crazy with all the noise about build quality and part quality of Honda is superior than any Indian manufacturer.. please rescue me from this dilemma

Well bro , we have similar situation . This is also my first bike and i wanted to buy the best(also in reasonable price) . At first i also had dilemma between twister and discover 125 st . My friends say twister but my heart says discover . Then i had views from many people . But finally decided discover . in terms of FE , maybe twister has slighter edge as discover has more power.
And in case if you are very confused on what to buy . choose what your heart says.

                      • Guys what say which will be a better buy..as prince posted this cud be expected at 60K on road and the p135 from bajaj is around 65K

both have similar power and torque figures what do u think is better to go for?

                        monoshocks but no digi console

looks and styling depends on person to person but both look decent enough(for me p135 looks a little bit better)

                        what say??

Who said this Honda is the only one in India. Where did you see Yamaha/hero With bad options??

Bajaj/Hero handa are the cheapest bike sellers. they sell you what it deserves to be. Who is selling a 200cc+ bike at <1 L only bajaj.

We have to compromise on some side, But still it's you who maintain the bike. In built quality even Yamaha is in the competition with Honda.

What's deliema ?? Twister is anytime more mileage bike than Discover ST. You chose which you want my Friend???

A mileage oriented or decent average with some good punch??

BAJAJ is not at all bad company...Mind it!!!

In INDIA Bajaj is the only one who brought biking dreams true with bigger bikes at affordable prices.
And any bike would be good till 5 yrs and the care you take of bike in 5yrs decide the fate of coming years!!

Hey Mayukh, answer is very simple. If you are just looking for mileage go for Twister. If you are looking for performance with decent mileage then Discover 125ST is for you. It's a generation ahead when compared with current crop of 125cc bikes, got 4-valve engine, monoshock with 13 bhp power, which is almost equal to Unicorn. Now, you understand why it can't be compared to Twister, right?

Regarding, reliability/durability of Bajaj bikes, I must tell you this topic is beaten to death on this forum many times before. But as a past owner let me assure you, they are right up there with competition on quality/reliability front.

Don't forget to take a test ride before finalizing your choice, it will clear you lot of things which may or may not be reflected in our suggestions over here. But, if performance/mileage combo is your main criteria in the budget of around 60k, P135LS or Discover 125ST sound like best options at the moment.

i know you are saying the perfect thing. my BIG B rides a pulsar 150 whihc is close to 7 years old but still sounds sweeeet... he totally swears on the name of bajaj on the other hand my another BIG B is an Apachian. my heart tells me to go for 125ST but my sure needs are FE 60 kmpl within city limits and in the highway close to 70 kmpl.. let's hope bajaj will deliver those figures. My budget is very tight at 60K.

nice to know that Yamaha and Honda and Suzuki three are on the same page when it comes to spare parts quality. i never thought Yamaha to be a good bike maker considering that they never made profit out of bike business ever still they are in the red zone :P
