Honda plans to launch four two-wheelers every year in India

Smart move by Honda there. I've always said that all global manufacturers need to use developing countries as their centre for R&D. The main advantage is a major drop in R&D costs compared to their European/American counterparts. Their latest products are all focussed onto commuters and everyday joe's which has given Kawasaki a broader market in the performance oriented section.
Now if only Suzuki/Yamaha would wake up from their slumber and do the same, we could be seeing advanced motorcycles at reasonable prices in the not so distant future.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Sad that CRF250 series is not yet launched in IndiaOriginally posted by trnaren View PostThe crf250l is launched globally .... I was curious about India plans. Other than the hero impulse which is under powered there is no other enduro manufactured in India
It's available in Thailand
Why KTM or Honda not milking this segment

Re: Honda plans to launch four two-wheelers every year in India
Most roads are anyway dirt roads India :-) both Honda and ktm should capitalize.
The amount of joy in riding an underpowered enduro like impulse is high, can't wait to get my hands onto a 250 cc enduro machine :-(

Honda Plans new model every 3 months to target being No.1 by 2020
Honda Motor Co. plans to target rising income in the rural market to sell their motorcycles and scooters to overtake Hero Motocorp by 2020.

Honda is hoping to quadruple their sales of scooters and motorcycles by 2020 in a bid to overtake Hero and be No. 1 in the Indian Market. Sales are being targeted at 10 million units, up from the current 2.52 million units.
Tatsuhiro Oyama, Senior Managing Officer, Motorcycle Operations -
Honda is hoping that the increasing spending power in rural India coupled with the lack of proper public transport will induce customers to buy motorcycles. The company wants to be well prepared to meet this demand that is expected to rise. The company will also increase the no. of dealerships in the country.
Another model will be released alongside the Dream Yuga in the commuter segment to take Hero head on.

News Approved
Honda seems to be really aggressive about the Indian market. I personally won't be surprised when Honda overtakes Hero for the No. 1 spot. Its not a question of IF, but a question of when.
I wonder what kind of models are being planned to be introduced every three months. Minor variations of existing models or completely new models?Last edited by The Monk; 02-14-2013, 02:21 PM.Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Increasing competition is always healthy and more options for the consumer....
the DREAM YUGA has been in the market for quite some time and though i have read claims that it is selling like hot cakes....but my recent 10 day long trip to Gjarat where i went to places like ahmedabad which is a big nice metro and even been to places where u need to travel through forests of GIR and all sorts of rural semi rural and blah blah....DREAm YUGA was a flop there...i see more and more HERO branded splendors, the new discovers being sold and used....the mentallity of the rural consumer is buy a splendor...it lasts long and reliable...generations have been using it...why to buy these new dreamy bikes?
and places which are a little more developed are slowly shifting to 125cc and 150cc
I wonder every year 4 new models...how does HONDA plan to invest and reap benefits from so much R&D,marketing,advertising...infact people will get confused and go forth with purchasing standard relable well known for generation HERO bikes...and fact is this is happening...do they plan to launch a new scooter,a 100cc,125cc,150c bike each year?? by 2020 they will have 28 new models...showroom mein jagah bhi hoga kya sab display karne k liye?
seems like a stupid idea...but lets see how it turns out
If they planned to upgrade each existing model with new features every year and throw in a couple of new launches...it might then be a good ideaPulsar 200NS parts list

. HOnda scores poorly in terms of after sales service support and spares are a big headache ( ask any eterno owner). What hond should do in parallel is to provide good after sales support and availability of spares, else most of the customers who wish to keep a vehicle for long time would not go for HMSI models.

oh yes i totally forgot about how difficult sometimes it is to get spare parts(they are already costly and if there are so many models...there will be fewer spare parts manufactured for each model and they will now be even more costlier)...and to top it if models will be released like mobile phones by samsung i doubt we will get even half as good the after sales service that we get now (which btw is currently is nothing to be very proud of by HMSI)...seems like HMSI will take the crown from bajaj in introducing and phasing out most no. of models :PPulsar 200NS parts list

I think the time has come when Honda should play the cards of a HONDA SPLENDOR (or whatever name
) with similar motto as was played by Hero when they came up with IGNITOR

I do agree to your words (being a Honda owner) ............. they really need to re-structure the existing after-sales mechanism which is really really embarrassing (& unnecessarily expensive) ............ even I had to find someone outside of a Honda Service Center to handle any needed maintenance/repairsOriginally posted by srikany View PostA very good insight I must say
