Absolutely correct Satyajit da....will have to give it to the cops here for making the people wear helmets. I wrote "making the people wear" because very few wear them as a safety concern....most of them wear to avoid being caught by the cops and this evident from the fact that they wear helmets without strapping them or just kind of placing them on their head
Bottom Line: People are wearing helmets.

Talking about that.? My college doesn't allow helmets to college. How lame is that.? Even if you get one, you have to leave it on your bike in the parking lot. What if some jealous bugger puts scratches on it or flicks it.? College isn't responsible.

Really, My Ex-Company doesn't allow your bike in parking lot if you don't have a helmet.

Or are you not allowed helmet inside your class, They don't allow you to leave/lock it on your bike?

first things first, if police tries to stop you, you must stop. if they stop you for wrong reasons then protest. if you are at fault then its your mistake. yesterday morning while going on my activa to pick up my mom from railway station, i was going through KR road, and i knew there will be police checkpost. i passes these 2 guys going on kinatic without helmet, the police guy stopped me. i turned back and saw that those guys took a U turn few meters mack and rode off. me and police guy had a laugh, he wrote my bike number, moblile number and name in the book for usual checking and let me go.

            Now didnt that sound simple?

stop if you are stopped. orelse dont commit mistakes and repent later. things should be dealt with calmness with police, as they say, "they have a stick and not you"

They dont allow the helmet inside class, at the same time they don't take responsibility for my if I leave in the parking, either of two should be done. What say.?

                Don't say it's impossible to fit a helmet-lock? or atleast a cable-lock?

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

Dude. I'm from Hyderabad. Any idea how jealous the people around here are.? For example, I parked my bike in a lane, by the time I was back, someone had scribbled with whit ink pen all over my bike.

I always took my along in class. If this is a college specific rule, make a complain to the college Principal -> Students grievance committee -> AICTE / Affiliating University VC (in that order). If that doesn't work, shoot a mail to the President of India and CC the mail to your princi .

The last one works all the time .

Edit: If you don't want the hassle of using the official route, get yourself one of these. Then they cannot possibly have any issue with you carrying your helmet around.

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Sad that this occured in my hometown. 90% wear helmet here, only 20% wear 'real helmet', other 70% wear 'something like helmet' and the rest 10% who doesnt wear helmet creates these incidents. Ashamed.

It is much worse here. Ghaziabad and Gurgaon. Cops were shot at because they stopped a bike for tripling.

That's pathetic. I have seen this kind of menace and gun-toting only in North India - everybody seems to possess a gun and don't hesitate to shoot at anybody at the slightest provocation

Even I do the same. I am carrying attested scanned copy of DL and RC. It's better to keep originals safe. I don't think any cops will create a problem as long as the copies are attested. It's better to keep the originals safe.

Seems like a good idea, but take years to implement.
One funny fact is that my friend had a boxer with no RC book and other papers. He rode it 11 years evading cops never ever caught. Finally he scrapped the bike and bought a pulsar.

In Trivandrum, as long as you have a helmet the cops won't bother to check if you have papers so what some people do is they carry the helmet on their bike and when they see helmet checks ahead they put it on.
