The name of Sundarshan had been proposed in February by the company as whole time director, with a remuneration of 4.17 crore.

Sundarshan Venu is 24 years old and as such he met with resistance at being appointed as it was said that he is too young and inexperienced to handle a company the size of TVS Motors.

Opposition to the appointment came from Institutional Investor Advisory Services Ltd, which cited examples of Rajiv Bajaj of Bajaj Auto and Rishad Premji of Wipro, as people who worked for many years at the lower levels before being ascended to the Board.

correction, i guess it is sudarshan and not sundarshan. whether or not he can turn around the fortunes of TVS depends upon how much subject knowledge he has i.e. bikes and two wheelers, and how much business sense he has. and even if he is lacking in both these or any one, how much quick learner he is. i think he is too young for this, but i sincerely hope i am wrong, coz i want some nice TVS bikes.

Hopefully this young blood will infuse some life into TVS but that again depends on how well he's aware of the ground realities...And 4.17 crores :O

                    Same here!!! Such is life!

ontopic: Lets not pin too much hopes - he will not be the sole decision-making authority. He will have to win the approval of all the other board members before anything groundbreaking comes to picture.

I HEARD from a friend, who's dad works in TVS,that TVS has "signed" a contract (last week) with BMW & we can expect some BMW tech in the TVS bikes OR TVS MIGHT produce BMW bikes for the Indian/Asian market..

                      P.S, NOT OFFICIAL NEWS..

That was expected news... Infact way back in 2012, BMW was "in talks" with TVS for a strategic tie up and we hadn't heard anything official ever since!

Are you referring to the article on "Bike Advice dotin" for the upcoming RTR180 with 19.5Ps power..?? Is this the result of the tie-up.?

Common buddy, BMW isnt going to do swing its magic wand on the RTR and bump the power just like that, please respect the TVS engineers too, they are far more capable than the stupid management that is running them. If TVS & BMW tie up, they might work on a brand new product not an old one like the RTR [Read that as platform].
