The accident happened at Corner 7, as he slid out of control and onto the run off area. The run off area has a ditch in which Dinesh landed badly hurting himself. There was no medical aid at the race track and the Dinesh's team had to take him to hospital.

MMRC has been petitioned by the riders group to improve medical facilities at the tracks, they have promised to look into the matter and improve the situation.

xBhp condoles the death of Dinesh and prays for his family and friends.

Very sad news, hope you rest in peace and for the team, if you have got a race track, you should have emergency medical support as well, lack of facilities caused this. . . Hope these things never happen in the future. . .

Really unfortunate. May his soul rest in peace and the god gives strength to his family to withstand this situation.
Sharing few more insights of the incident.

Sad demise of a motorcycle racer at the MMRT, Chennai

            Overdrive:
Motorsport is more often than not associated with speed, which is why it calls for adequate safety measures at all times. However, despite the best of efforts at times misfortunes do rear their ugly head given the risks involved in any form of the sport, typically road racing. While racing has become much safer today thanks to advancements in technology, accidents cannot be avoided, and at times cause more than mere bodily harm to racers. One such incident took place last week at the MMRT, Chennai.

The race track allows enthusiasts to 'pay and practice' on days when the circuit is free, and anyone interested can ride on track. With the racing season to commence next month, racers have begun practicing at the Chennai track which plays host to most of the rounds of the national motorcycle racing championship. Last Sunday, S Dinesh Edwin (aged 20), who races for Sparkz Racing was one of the racers practicing on track. Dinesh had a crash during a practice session at turn 7 when he lost the rear of his motorcycle, which caused him to slide off. He ended up with severe head injuries despite him wearing his helmet. The fall seems to have left his head swollen and subsequent clotting of blood inside, sources said. The fact that he was missing caused concern amongst the team and when his team mates found him, they rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared his condition as critical and he was moved to another hospital for further treatment.

However, after fighting his injuries for two days Dinesh finally breathed his last this morning. A commerce student, Dinesh was passionate about racing and had taken to the sport not very long ago. He died doing something he loved and enjoyed, but that is only so much consolation in the face of such a terrible mishap. We offer our sincere condolences to his family and pray that such incidents do not happen again. At the same time, we also hope that safety measures at the race track are brought up to international standards soon, which should eliminate the possibility of such accidents.

            Deccan Chronical:
While some of the fellow racers noted that there was no ambulance at the racing track to rush the injured to the hospital, Vicky Chandhok, vice president of the MMSC, said riders come to such sessions fully aware of the fact that they will not have an ambulance at their disposal.
“The concept of open pay and practice days started when racers requested the MMSC for a cheaper way to use the track. They will be inspected for proper racing gears. We never allow anyone to ride without helmet and racing overalls.
There are other categories of track days where we provide all medical facilities for official practice sessions which are obviously more expensive,” said Chandhok adding that the MMSC will now scrap the ‘cheaper sessions’.

            The Hindu:
The run-off area, said many drivers who The Hindu spoke to at the GH on Tuesday, wasn’t smooth and the place where Dinesh fell, they insisted, was an open ditch nearly five feet deep. When there was no sign of Dinesh emerging, his friend and National-level racer Tamil Arasu went to locate him. “He was inside the ditch at C7 with his visor damaged. The helmet was in a relatively good condition, though,” said Arasu.

Many drivers said there wasn’t an ambulance, a doctor or first aid facility. Sparks Racing Team owner S. Ravi said, “There was nobody for help. We had to do everything ourselves.”
He was taken to a nearby hospital where the doctors said he was in very bad shape. Frantically they then took him to another private hospital which after an examination referred Dinesh to the GH.
Dinesh’s father Subramaniam, a Sub-Inspector with the Railway Protection Force, is putting up a brave face. “He is our only son. He had said ‘Dad don’t worry I will do well and my photos will appear in all leading newspapers and television channels.’
“He is very shy, but very jovial. Only recently did he take up racing,” said his friend Ayappan.
Emmanuel Jebaraj, a representative of bike racers, said though the facilities at the track have improved a lot in the last one year, there is scope for improvement.

On Monday, many leading riders including reigning National 600cc champion K. Rajini, tuners and team owners met Madras Motor Sports Club (MMSC) officials and demanded better medical facilities, a marshal during practice sessions and the levelling of run-off areas. “They (MMSC officials) said they will look into it,” said Rajini.
Pramod Kumar, Secretary, MMSC said that, generally, there are no ambulances and doctors stationed on a plain practice day. Vicky Chandhok, President, FMSCI, said, there was no ditch at C7. “I have travelled the length and breath of the track. In fact he (Dinesh) went 20m beyond the edge of the track.
“The ditch (it is a water drain) is well away from the racing line. We have levelled the area in January this year. Periodic maintenance is being done.
“We have ordered an enquiry. In the light of the event, it has now been decided that in future, no session, official testing days, event days or open days, will be staged without an ambulance and medical facilities,” he said.

Shows how undergeared when it comes to security, safety and on spot ambulance providers. It's a shame such a motorsport club as MMSC take the life of a young champ, with overlooking basic emergency relief supply. I feel so bad for Dinesh and really very frustrated with MMSC.

The day these people understand precious life is worth than an ambulance, the day safety is redefined in our country.

              Grow up MMSC.

              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

              THE END

It is indeed unfortunate. From the comments and news, It seems that it was inadequate safety measures and facilities at the track which were primarily responsible. I had hinted that CSS should also be held at BIC (I am aware of the prohibitive cost) and not down south where the riders cannot learn properly and safety issues are there. However the organizers did not take it in the right spirit I reckon.

Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

MMRT Needs to be held responsible for this. How can you organize such a dangerous sport and not have any medical assistance at hand? Just shows the apathy and lack of concern on their part. If this was America, they would be sued to bankruptcy... *sigh* I hope the family of the deceased takes them to court over this.

although an ambulance would have helped, but there are track days with all facilities, but track days with less facilities was started on the request of riders only to bring down the cost.

someone paid a very heavy price for it...and that someone could've been one of those who thought that not having an ambulance was a good idea.
