    Specially modified motorcycles for Mumbai Cops: xBhp News

    According to news reports in DNA - Soon, Mumbai cops will sport high-end superbikes for patrolling - Mumbai - DNA - cops in Mumbai will be riding high end superbikes soon!

    The bike in question to be used for the project is none other than the Royal Enfield Classic 350. The bike has been equipped with some of the latest features to help the policemen to discharge their duty more efficiently. It sports all weather cameras, GPS, laptops and printers. The cameras will be used to record evidence, the GPS to help the policemen reaching the crime spot faster and the laptop and printer to help the cops as they won't have to issue hand written challans!

    The bikes will also have space to keep tents, gear to cordon off crime scenes, first aid and forensic tools. After the motorcycle has been prepped up, the cops will be dutifully trained on how to use all these features! The first bike is expected to be ready by August 2013.

    The bike is being designed by Gabriel Zuzarte, founder of Road Rage Custom Builds.

        Is this a belated Aprils fool joke? Since when was an Enfield a high end superbike? I guess the cops in Bombay are no closer to being less archaic.

          Adding to it, the weight of the bike and the "modern" gear will ensure that the only thing that these "superbikers" would be able to chase down would be a TVS Express or a decade old Luna. Even the puny 100 cc economy bikes will be able to run rings around this modern technological invention.

            I think they will be used more for patrolling, at red lights and at police road blocks rather than chasing.
            In view of Indian traffic, pulsar will be enough for the chasing part :P

              Funny.

              I wish they had opted for a motorcycle that goes reasonably fast, quick, reliable, and is ridden by a well-trained man rather than going for this zing-bang.

                  since am from mumbai / thane, i can very well imagine what a joke this is gonna be.
                  some facts on the pandu's here & the way the entire mechanism works...
                  1. there was a time when pandu's used to ride junk [read bullets]
                  2. then they started riding splendors for a short while
                  3. then they were allotted avengers [read a less creaking / less noisy joke]
                  4. @ present the condition of those plain white painted avengers is so freaking pathetic that even a milkman with his atlas cycle will be able to get away from any pandu hawaldar here.
                  traffic police in mumbai & thane can do one 1 thing & they do it rather too well - ROB anybody & everybody of cash under any pretext possible.
                  on an average, it takes just 9 months for a 'high end superbike' to turn to 'deep dish trash sh|tpot' considering the 'high maintenance standards' governed by the govt.
                  enuff said!

                        Ive seen scoop pics on the internet..somewhere in MP or UP, the police riding CBR250 in white..so somewhere in the country those cops are definetely lucky.

                              When I read the title, I visualized such strange ROFL stuff in my head:-
                              A Brown CBR 1000RR with "SHINDE" written in white text in huge fonts on the fairing..
                              A modified R1 whose "R1" name is suffixed to make it "R1tesh".
                              A rider clad in Khaki trying to control wheelies on his Gixxer, while following someone.
                              He arrests that offender and then, a bigger officer of DIG Rank arriving on a Harley Davidson at 10 kmph as the public looks on speechlessly...


                              But then I read how Classic 350 is a superbike. Damn. The newest technology (GPS, Cameras, etc.) on the oldest technology (Royal Enfields)... What combination is that?


                              Jokes apart, If I was in their place, I would've chosen P220S:- its fast, it has torque, it hardly has a breakable fairing, its reliable, it has underseat storage for technology, it has good weight, its cheaper (its our tax money, remember?) etc. Good for cops. Or maybe a Karizma without the fairing.
                              Isn't Classic a bit too expensive for such patrolling stuff?
