Yes, I guess I read somewhere that ~162 kmph is the "true" top speed. The speedo may show 170 or thereabouts.Originally posted by Adoksh View PostSo what your saying is that there is no electronic restriction on the 390. The bike maxes out at 160-165 right?Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Just for the numbers sake I touched a max of 162kmph till date on the speedo. More on the details whenever the review is outOriginally posted by splus View PostThat's whopping 168 kmh at 10,500 rpm in 5th gear!!!
I wonder if there are any volunteers to check the top speed in 6th gear when fully crouched and with enough road!

I had been to Langford road KTM to check out on TD bike, but sadly they say there are only 2 bikes for Bangalore and both are display bikes. They said the TD will be given once the first lot arrives, so that means no TD until August or god knows when with strike going on, damn!

Friends I want to know why back side of new bikes is going up and up. It is very uncomfortable to pillion rides especially ladies. Why companies are ignoring their comfort. Please explain logic and technology behind it.vijay super-1981,vespa1984,herohonda1988,herohondasleek1989,su zuki shaolin1994,herohondacbz2000,suzukiferro2000,honda unicorn2004,kawasaki-bajaj eliminator2005,rtr1802010

^^ Its the trend only with performance bikes mostly. The design is getting sharper day by day and so is the ergonomics - sportier & fun, in accordance with international standards. If pillion is a priority then there are lot of other options in the Indian market. In a country like ours, this is a very important aspect & cannot be ignored; after all, most of the billions of people residing here travel by two-wheelers.BENEATH THE REMAINS.........

re: KTM Duke 390 Launched in India at Rs 1.8 Lakhs: xBhp News
I have a question on the Quality of the D390. I have seen personally that the wires are visible near the trellis frame and also near the Cockpit. These wires were sealed with electronic tape
. So, my question is, will be the same kind of bike going to deliver globally or are they gonna take care of this ugly looking wiring?

Obviously, no. But they will also be priced higher than Indian price.Originally posted by Syed Zakir Ahamed View PostI have a question on the Quality of the D390. The answer to this is simple.Originally posted by bhadoriabtp View PostFriends I want to know why back side of new bikes is going up and up. It is very uncomfortable to pillion rides especially ladies. Why companies are ignoring their comfort. Please explain logic and technology behind it.
Those "new" bikes like D390 are made for enthusiast riders, and the back seats are made for enthusiasts ladies.
They need to sit close to the rider and hold onto the rider, not onto grab rails. And in that case the seat is very comfortable.
Seriously though, there were few posts earlier about the back seat - Duke's back seat is actually quite comfortable. It just LOOKS as if it's not.
But yeah, it's definitely not made for guys pillions...
There won't be any difference between Indian and international bikes.Originally posted by Syed Zakir Ahamed View PostI have a question on the Quality of the D390. The problem with wiring is that this is a naked bike. Where to put wiring if there's no any fairing? Especially if the 372 cc engine takes up all the space...
I still haven't seen D390 in flash but D200 also has this problem, albeit less because there's no ABS wires and the engine is smaller, there's more space inside.
They probably could have used some better way to cover those wires, but if the tape is the same quality as D200 then have no worries - it just looks crappy, but it's going to last. Even after 1 year it doesn't look any different than a new tape.

re: KTM Duke 390 Launched in India at Rs 1.8 Lakhs: xBhp News
Lucky first riders have seen as high as 165 kmph on the speedo. KTM guys claim they have seen even 170 with spirited highway riding (on speedo only). But don't expect the same with the Indian fuel... You might realistically touch 164-168 and not much more than that.
But seriously, top speeds are more of an indicator of what lies underneath, and anything above 160 is a very good number... Its not necessary that we actually touch it on every 3rd ride we take.
MG is taking his time, and that's a good thing. Quality takes time. All the best to him.
I'm seeing many such one-ride reports of Duke on various websites, that leave many many questions unanswered. All I've read again and again is poking wires, good handling, good metzelers, good power push in the upper rpm's, etc. What's the point of such now-so-common info?---
Brotherhood, Rules, Freedom. Xbhp.
Indian riding = Alertness, Anticipation and Adjustment.
