Just going through the owners manual....it talks about the running inn phase:- ""during the running-in phase, do not exceed the specified engine speed""

""during the first 1,000 km :-7500rpm""

Exactly! It's not 5k rpm as the dealer has told you but 7.5k rpm. You don't want to baby your bike during the run in, it's not good.
Don't worry about the engine, it's really "Ready to race" straight out of the showroom!
I redlined my D200 5km out of the showroom few times (not intentionally, it just hit the rev limiter so quickly during few overtakings that I didn't even realize what happened), and have finished my run in in only 200 km, and now I have a great performing bike, easily hits the rev limiter in 6th at 134 kmh every single time.

I'm not saying you should redline it now during run in, but definitely take it to higher revs for short times, it'll be good for the engine.
I'm pretty sure your biggest problem will be you won't be able to take that crazy grin off your face!

Btw, sounds from you like the heating issue has been solved? That would be great!

As for saddle and non-magnetic tank bags, check www.rynoxgears.com. Excellent quality.

Enjoy bro and looking forward to more details from you!
Probably better if you open a new KTM Duke 390 ownership thread in ownership section...

How are the service intervals spaced? Also, what's the oil change frequency.

          Thanks, enjoy, bro :-D

Wow, I just saw this video of D200 in Malaysia doing 165 KMH!
The guy says the bike has a stock sprocket and the only change is there's no ECU cut off. At 165 kmh he would be doing around 12,150 rpm.

Damn, that's D390's top speed... I had no idea this 200cc motor is THAT capable.

If you put shorter gears on D390 and remove ECU cut off I bet D390 could push it pretty close to 200 kmh. Those tall gears right now don't allow the bike even to reach its peak power in 6th gear.

Not possible.200kph for a naked 390.but I get what you're trying to say

Ot:a guy nodded a Suzuki b-king to produce crazy horsepower and only then was he able to get the speeds.

390 would not hit 200kph. It just doesnt have the requirements for such speed. I would be quite surprised if the stock 390 does 180.
FYI, the top speed of 690 duke is 189kph.

Yeah, I agree, 200 kmh is pushing it little bit...
But 180 kmh would be a 100% sure bet.

Yes, I agree completely, naked bikes simply aren't made for high speeds. Unless one doesn't mind flying off of a bike.
But that 189 kmh is also the speed of a stock D690.

Didnt get you. Do you mean you felt a taller rider will be more at ease? Or are you saying the bike could be bigger to accomodate your height better?

That is exactly what I asked may be a 10 pages back. Right buddy? And even then you sort of agreed. In theory if not 200kmph but some healthy top speed would be possible with a shorter gearing.

The guys who are getting their 390' s delivered, kindly let us know the size of the rear sprocket. Everyone else, start looking for a bigger rear sprocket, it would do a world of good to the 390 for sure.

An easier mod would be windscreen.fazer top speed is more than fz for this simple reason.maybe not a huge margin but still.and someone here said KTM will be providing it as accessory in India.

Expectations and speculations like that can only end up disappointing. I mean the 690 has nearly 25 more horses than the 390 and it can do only 189, so like I said, if the 390 really does do an 180, I would be quite surprised.
