re: KTM Duke 390 Launched in India at Rs 1.8 Lakhs: xBhp News

When I said, the on-road pricing would be just around 2 Lacs, all argued, it wont be less than 2.3 Lacs....
I have been guessing all the pricing right since last 2 years.
Now take my words- P375 wont be a penny more than 1.5 Lacs OTR(Yes, fully faired version)[Considering, Bhubaneshwar OTR price for P200NS is 97.5k].

According to Mr. Amit Nandi, it is not yet decided; "The validity or time period for the introductory price will depend on demand, sales & market situation/scenario"

I am all gunho about this but still I don't think this is introductory pricing, it is actually on the expected lines, they just want to making it sound as though it is cheaper. The 1.8L is not OTR, the OTR will still cross 2L, so comparitively speaking it is still a very good price. For Bangalore it is coming to cool 2.5L which is not cheap really speaking, ain't it.

Really KTM makes 75% sales in higher CC bikes.

Didn't ask about finance options. But did see the finance options for the 300 and 650. Awesome options really. For a 12 month period interest was around 9% and going upto 11% for the 36 month option.

So how is it Bajaj's fault if the extra 70K you are paying is because of various taxes (State & Central Govt taxes) ?

Its great to see how aggressively Bajaj has priced the Duke. But I'd like to be the bubble breaker here, this heavenly ride will NOT sell that well and the introductory price might well end up lasting longer than what it lasted for the 200. Reasons are pretty simple, more so there's only one reason, No Fairing.

The Duke 200 has sold ONLY 11k units in all these 17 months. CBR250 crossed that mark much much earlier. R15v2.0 has been selling 2000 units every month since its launch. The Duke 200 is probably the most profitable practical investment one could have (and still) made but it just dint attract the aam janta, why? Cuz this is a fairing-frenzy country. And 390 will only get the worse part of 200's fate.

A fairing would have max costed 15k, increased the weight by 5kgs and decreased the mileage by 2kmpl. Now I know the price of the 390 because it shares so many parts with the 200 but trust me 15k is the max it all would have costed. And the faired 390 would be a phenomenal hit in India. Someone said its coming in 2014. Lets see.

I personally love the 390. Just wish it came with a larger tank for more comfortable touring. The windshield, top case, carrier plate, though all beautiful will be rudely expensive just like the 200's powerparts.
