No, not really though I would have like to. This is all fine for a test bike taken for a test. I want to know the official statement. Is KTM saying that water will not enter the engine and if on any such damage to exhaust/engine/valves, replace it under warranty? I mean can we take it for granted that nothing whatsoever will happen to the bike when riding under these conditions?

We can't say anything about this problem untill the actual production bike is not given to the customers..
only an actual owner would have a clear picture of the bikes performance..
the company won't say anything which might not be helpful for the bikes name..
but the D200 has been in the market for couple of years now and there haven't been many cases of such problem..

let the first lot be delivered to the customers and we'll get answers to many of our questions..

        Ride safe and have fun.

          It's true, nothing will happen.
Here's the official video of Duke's underbelly exhaust.
Engine running for half an hour and then also starting in a knee deep water.

              1. Buy a tractor..the exhaust is so high that you will drown first and the tractor will stop later
              2. Buy a submarine...that way you can go underwater and stay safe..

              Joking...

Seriously speaking...Check some of the some of the posts by one Mr. Surojit Sadhu from Pune. He has taken the P200 (which has a similar arrangement) through some of the finest water spots. The bike comes out unscathed.

Personally speaking, last monsoon, I had a chance to check the water crawling capabilities of the Duke near my office and she comes out flawless. Whether the engine is running or you stop it and start off again...mind you, my bike is not a test bike.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

                    LOLOLOL!!!

Funny video aside, I'm pretty sure D390 will have a better top end than CBR 250. It has a more accurate speedo (its speedo will show lower speed than CBR's at same doeed) than CBR250 and when fully crouched will easily go faster.

And what is this nonsense that D390 is "electronically limited to 160 kmh"???
                    Who says that?
Few test rides from Austria few months ago did 170 kmh, they were just a quick test rides. Given more time and proper road it could surely go even higher than 170 kmh...

Just a few more points to add to my previous post, which I hope would be helpful. The mileage we got on our test ride around 15 kms was showing as 21 kmpl, although the overall average showed 28 kmpl. Truly the torque was just so amazing. I was accompanied by the KTM sales in-charge (the coolest sales guy I have ever met) and he started the ride and I was pillion. You will not believe the feel of the torque sitting behind the rider. When he pulled on the first and second gears, the bike was literally just pressing me downwards due to the torque. I was a bit scared as I felt like I would slip backward off the bike as there was no other option of hanging on expect to hold the rider. ABS switch method was demonstrated and we tried stopping with both ABS on and off, each time we switch off the ignition and on it again, the bike comes to the default ABS ON mode.

We spent some extensive time discussing on things after the test ride and at that time I found so many people just ripping the bike in the name of test rides. The bike was just screaming for peace. Should never ever own a test drive vehicle, especially a performance oriented one. Test rides were going on for both 390 and 200 and I liked the sound of 390 more than the 200. It was strong and deeper, sounded matured comparatively (just my opinion though).

I just started loving the time spent on discussing the 390 here as we all know that once we get our rides delivered, we would be very busy testing it and enjoying it in real world and would not be so active in discussing. We would miss all this discussions and speculations. Saying all this, I am just madly desperately waiting for my 390, August please come soon!!!. Good day.

How are you guys planning to break-in new 390 engine?

After a lot of Googling, I'm planing hard break-in as explained in - Break In Secrets--How To Break In New Motorcycle and Car Engines For More Power

Please let me know if anyone has faced any issues with this method.

What works for some may not work for you. That said the manufacturer's way is much safer since millions follow it every year and it is mostly successful (else there would be lots of bad press around failure rates).

But if things have to go wrong, they will. Just warm up the engine well before heading off.
