Re: 2014 Honda CBR 250 Revealed: xBhp News

This looks much better and a better-proportioned bike than the 2011-2013 models. The 'normal-looking" metallic exhaust can is a very welcome change over the current aluminium scratch-magnet exhaust. Also welcome are the twin headlamps - but will they be 55W or 35W units? 35W will suck big time
The fairing now looks like a one-piece unit rather than the 'layered' fairing of the current-gen CBR. Also hoping for a LED taillamp unit.

Well, if BAL can have P135, P150, P180, P200(NS), P220 and (upcoming)P375, then why cant Honda have CBR150, 250, 300, 350 (er, RE-competitor :P), 400, 500 and 600 in the same market? Afterall it's the same market where Maruti and Hyundai have been surviving by selling the same engine in different disguises!

It should be CBR 300 for the Indian market to compete with the Ninja 300. Being a single cylinder, Honda can price the 300 very aggressively giving a huge blow to the already pricy Ninja 300.
Pretty much of an expected move by Honda to follow the lead of the Kawasaki.
But pretty sad to see the lack of innovative business tricks here. Honda is playing safe by taking-on/following Kawasaki in its on game by prioritizing price for performance & features in the same league. The 250 story would repeat for the 300 as well.
Or could it be that the motor-gaints are creating a new displacement baseline segment for the motorcycles altogether?

I will be disappointed if they bring out an improved 150 at the same cost, I got one 18 days ago! >

I think India is getting 250 only, or maybe both, let's see. I think they might be upgrading 250 a bit to make it more competitive to RC200 and Pulsar375, if you look at the viewpoint of Indian market.
Don't be sad cos you now only own one of the best 150cc motorcycle, BTW let's just see which they are going to give us, 250R or 300R. . .

If it shows up in India, then we Indians should be happy to finally have an affordable 250 cc bike from the CBR family-tree and not the VFR inspired disguise. I would have been happy if instead of calling the current one as CBR 250R, Honda would have named it VFR 250, because the nature of both these families are different.

I think Honda will bring this to India only in late 2014 (like it did with 2013 paint job) as a cut price CBR250 to compete better with P200NS and Duke series. I hope Honda brings in its 400/500 series to brighten up the interim period!

I definitely feel we will get the 250R not the 300R, since Honda will not want to change the assembly line they setup for 250 so soon without getting the payback. The 300R is in response to the N300, but not for India, where they also know the sales of N300 are far too less to make an investment. East asian countries and probably Europe is its intended market. The 250R will be sold here until probably by 2015 they might think of bringing in their 400R/500R depending on the economy and sales figures.

CBR = Cross Bar Racer. (since the first bike had a Cross bar geometry to be used in Racing) Later Honda came up with a moer general term - City Bike Racer.

I guess he meant VFR 250 on the basis of looks and its touring friendly nature. (Does better on highways than a track, hence not worthy of a CBR nomenclature)

EDIT - CB stands for Inline Four and R stands for racing. RR is race replica.

Nothing totally fresh from Honda but still welcome changes to the current model. The twin headlight makes it CBR1000rr look alike from the front. I wonder if they've gone for the LED tail light this time. One of the best bikes available in India but overpriced imho.

obviously he was talking about looks of CBR250 similar to a VFR, hence to be named as VFR250..but you can't name a single cylinder bike under a V4 series nomenclature..though calling it a city bike racer will not be doing justice to the CBR name as well but now a days we have got 125cc sports tourer as well

So definitely Honda won't name its existing model under VFR series no matter if it looks similar to VFR1200..but calling it a city bike racer can just be a marketing gimmick to cash CBR's tag..

I hope we get to see the 300 one and not the 250 here in India. And i do hope Honda has learned a few lessons from the first iteration and they are in a better position to provide a good after sales service and spares as getting hold of parts for CBR 250 here in Mumbai has been a nightmare for a lot of friends of mine. Whereas Yamaha has been very prompt and quick in ordering parts in no time and in most cases SVCs do keep things in stock. I doubt it will be a P twin.. they will most likely keep a single cylinder engine for easy serviceability and keeping the overall size of the engine compact...

                          Cheers,

Honda has revealed the latest iteration of the CBR 250, just a few days after the CBR 300 was unveiled in China. Some markets, will continue to get the CBR 250, while other markets will get the CBR 300. It is not yet known, which markets will get what.

In November at the Tokyo Motor Show the New CBR 250 will be showcased along with a multitude of other motorcycles. The other motorcycles that we know Honda will be unveiling are - CB1300, CB 400, and the Dunk. Though these motorcycles and scooter might be first shown at Milan at the EICMA.

Full details of the CBR 250 will be got only after it is unveiled at the EICMA or Tokyo Motor Show. The place of unveiling will also tell a lot whether this is supposed to be a Japan only or a global model. Either ways, this looks like Honda is trying its best to break the Ninja 250/ 300, which ruled the quarter litre segment for a long time.

The current CBR is only designed after the VFR. As for the engine, the 250R's bore and stroke are the same as that of the CBR1000RR which i think is more important since Engine>Body imho!
