It’s not just the citizen, but also the law and order protectors who are witnessing some really good days. If these images are to be believed, Gujarat police will soon receive a fleet of Harley-Davidson motorcycles to patrol the city and keep the crime under check. The photographs showcase two Harley-Davidson motorcycles, the Street 750 and the SuperLow, painted in white colour and laden with accessories like a warning light, a siren and a wireless communicator. The Street 750 is the most affordable Harley-Davidson motorcycle in the Indian market today. The Street 750 also received the prestigious Indian Motorcycle of the Year (IMOTY) award for 2014. The other motorcycle in case in the SuperLow which comes with a slightly more powerful 883cc Air-cooled, Evolution engine. The new motorcycles are likely to join the Gujarat police fleet very soon. Sadly though, these motorcycles will not see much of action and will mainly be used for escorting and piloting of VIP convoys. Currently, 45 countries use Harley-Davidson Police motorcycles. What do you think of Gujarat police receiving Harley-Davidson Street 750 and SuperLow in their fleet? Re: Random News Thread From India!

So in November 2014 Triumph had got one unit each of the Tiger 800 XCX and XRX imported for homologation:
                      \"\\\\\\"\\\\\\"\"

From the looks of it they go on sale shortly as here are some entries of the first batch of imports:
                      \"\\\\\\"\\\\\\"\"

Now they are CKD while earlier they were possibly CBUs from Thailand. The price will increase though as speculated by Overdrive.

City bizman drags Harley Davidson to court over brakes!

City bizman drags Harley Davidson to court over faulty rear brakes

39-yr-old claims authorised servicing agents failed to assuage worries over malfunctioning brakes, leading to accident that injured his wife.

The alleged failure to resolve a technical glitch in one of their usually-prized bikes has resulted in Harley Davidson (India) being dragged to court by a 39- year-old Pune businessman, whose wife suffered spinal injuries after she fell in November last year when the vehicle's brakes "failed".

The case by Rajendra Singh, chief executive officer (CEO) of the city-based Priyadarshani Group of Schools, has now been moved in the Pune District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, as well as filed before the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).

Singh, the previously proud owner of a swanky Harley Davidson Dyna Street Bob — FXDB, has alleged that since one year before the accident took place he had been complaining to the authorised dealer, Mokshaa Motorbikes Company, about the rear brake pads.

However, the complainant says every time he approached the manager, he was assured that the issue was not serious and there would be no harm in riding the bike in that state. "I had purchased the motorcycle in April 2013; thereafter, I have been servicing it on a regular basis at an authorised service station," he said.

As per the complaint filed in the consumer forum and JMFC court in January this year, after Singh had new rear brake pads installed at the service station, he rode for a few kilometres and felt that the brakes had become spongy and were not functioning efficiently. He informed Sunil Christian, owner of Mokshaa Motorbike Company, and was informed by work manager Pranav Moghe that the brake shoe is new, assuring him that after a few kilometres of riding the rear would function completely. "However, even after riding the bike over a longer distance, the problem persisted. I kept informing the dealer, but he and his manager both paid no heed," Singh said in his complaint. He claims he was repeatedly given false assurances, so he continued using the bike," Singh argued.

He submitted that the last servicing was done on October 27, at which time he had complained about the rear brakes issue. Singh had been assured that the rear brakes were checked.

On November 19 last year, around 11 pm, he and his wife Pooja (37) had gone for ride for her birthday. "We were wearing safety headgear and headed in the Hinjewadi direction. On Deccan College Road, I applied brakes upon seeing a speed breaker, but the bike did not slow down. As it jumped over the speed breaker, my wife lost her balance— the bike stopped eventually after 50-60 metres, but Pooja had already slammed her right shoulder into the BRTS barricade on the road and fallen off," said Singh.

A complaint was registered with Yerwada police station. "Due to the accident, my wife suffered a right scapula lateral border fracture and multiple diffuse disc bulges of the spine and was advised to undergo spine surgery," he said.

Pooja told Mirror, "The accident has totally shaken me. It is quite difficult to get back to normal. I fear I will never be able to sit on the bike again due to this spinal injury."

While Singh said that he has corresponded several times with Harley Davidson's India office over email, and even received a reply from the company that it is considering the case on a priority basis, when Mirror tried to contact the office we received a reply stating, "We are unaware of this case or any pending litigation." Confusingly, when asked again, they replied, "We do not comment on pending litigation."

Christian, on the other hand, said that if Singh knew that the brakes were not functioning he should not have ridden the bike and risked their lives. "We had asked him to hand over the bike, but he was not ready to do so. We even told him that if he wants, we will summon mechanics from the company and open up the bike in front him. But, he refused and never left the bike back," he retaliated.

Singh's counsel, advocate Sangram Bhosale, said the case has been moved in the consumer forum and accepted by its president V P Utpat. He added, "The process of sending a notice to Harley-Davidson (India) and others is underway, while a criminal case has been filed in the JMFC court under relevant IPC sections ."

                            Cheers!
                            VJ
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                            THE END
