Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
To be honest, the showroom guys will sell V2 version comparing it with the previous generation. So, they will not compare Bajaj Avenger or for that matter Suzuki GS150R. Also, i had read ot somewhere that, Yamaha is targeting people in between age of 18-30. This age has generally college going students more and FZ is already popular with them.Originally posted by MHG View PostThose are highway figures. The Suzuki GS150R does 60 on highways.
Besides the review seems highly biased. It calls the 78,000 ex-showroom price as "highly competitive". With what ? The Avenger costs a few hundred rupees less and has boatloads more torque and power. Not intending to compare a cruiser with a regular bike but this just gives a perspective into how over ambitious the pricing is.
The bike seems shoddy engineering simply by looking at the FE. Power should increase due to 500RPM higher top end and added FI with no torque change and still the FE should go up 10% due to FI. With these changes MINUS the FI the FE should go up 14% anyway considering the engine is de-tuned and weighs slightly lesser. I'd expect an FE of 55-60 km/l consistently for this bike (i.e, VERY competitive with the GS150R and even beat it several times since FI is more accurate in fuel delivery than carb). But I doubt it will return over 48 under standard conditions. Top Gear already says 49 under highway, so I'd say this would do 40-45 in cities.
If the buyer is willing to sacrifice another 1PS in power but keep the torque (at an even lower RPM to aid roll-on in mid-range) and FE figures in favor of a bigger fuel tank and a MUCH lower asking price from the same brand, there is always the SZ-S. I'm confused what the position of the FZ 2.0 is in the market. It'll sell like hotcakes since most of the non-tech population buys stuff simply by the looks.
Technically you are right, but for Yamaha FZ to sell in large numbers, i guess adding FI and boasting a good FE over its previous generation will surely make it sell in good numbers.

Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
Only Yamaha fanboys or someone obsessed with looks will buy this bike. I mean cmon what special this bike brings to table to justify the huge price tag over other 150CC bikes ? This bike has got deteriorated compared to classic FZ as far as looks is concerned. One of the biggest selling point of original FZ was fat tyre(Indians love fat tyres). In this version, fat tyre is concealed behind ugly mud guard. I think original FZ looks better than this version. Overall its good bike, but price point is simply unjustifiable.

ITS HERE..!! Fazer V2.0 caught testing.
Definately looks wow.
Yamaha may have a winner here provided this new Fazer gets a bigger mill. As i have mentioned before, Fazer does deserve a bigger mill since it is branded and sold as a tourer. (The current model does not justify the tourer tag).

Its looking Hawwwtttt.....A big thumbs up from my side as far as design is concerned but yamaha should plonk a bigger mill rather than putting that 12.8 bhp little engine under its montstrous body....Originally posted by Flybiker View PostITS HERE..!! Fazer V2.0 caught testing.

Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
I had also came to this thread to post the same pic
This looks much better than the present Fazer.
But i doubt Yamaha will make its any different (which is a disappointment) but like all of you, i also hope that they give justice to the tourer name they promote Fazer with. It needs a bigger and stronger mill.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
very disappointed with Yamaha.. yes the bike looks a bit more muscular now, but that's about it.. 14% more FE will come down to 10% more in real world and at the same time being FI, maintenance will be far more compared to carb version. I'm happy instead of waiting for this I went ahead with an used 200NS.Let's bring down the monster of corruption to it's knees.. please visit http://ipaidabribe.com/

Despite knowing its just fanciful thinking, how I wish Yamaha would do this...Originally posted by Satyamzma View PostThey should provide this bike with R15 Engine with revised gear ratios
Been waiting for the new Fazer for almost 6 months now (hoped that the V2 would get a power bump, but now not expecting any - I'd be glad if the top end is stronger than before, that'd make a difference) :|
The lack of rear disk on the Fazer in pic leaves no hope for me. Just get a decent topend, thats all...Last edited by pranav0091; 07-07-2014, 02:13 AM.

Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
Fazer is just FZ + Semi fairing. Please stop dreaming about R15 engine in it. Everything will be same as FZ-S v2.

Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
Fazer with the same engine etc. As on the new fz 2.0 was caught testing sometime back. The images are up there in motoroids.
Please understand the marketing.. if fazer gets r15 engine who will buy r15?
How much price would a bike be at. How much power it will have and all depends on present market situation. Fz and fazer has 8k difference. Do you think the fairing costs 8k? No. But if they dont maintain this difference fz wont sell, all will start buying fazer. Of course except hard core naked bike lovers.
The only reason fz was selling less was the mileage. Yamaha has done an exceptional job on these bikes and once they start delivering 50km/l on various portals and blogs, all competition will have to work hard to stop them.
This news of putting FI on a 150cc would have already created turbulence on the competition's drawing tables.

Re: Launched: Yamaha FZ and FZ-S Version 2.0
Firstly this Bike wont deliver 50Km/l (considering real world mixed riding condition), if we consider 10% gain as claimed by Yamaha, figure would be 40-45km/l.Originally posted by muztariq View PostYamaha has done an exceptional job on these bikes and once they start delivering 50km/l on various portals and blogs, all competition will have to work hard to stop them.

Secondly competition offers far better VFM, considering on road price of this bike, it will be niche product in 150cc. Typical 1500CC market for those people who want reasonable performance at affordable price. I dont this this product will be tough competition to current 150CC market.
Thirdly FI on this bike wont create any turbulence due to niche nature of this product.Putting FI on 150cc wont bring any dramatic real world advantages.I dont see this bike to have considerable market share to scare competition.
New Fazer will be even more niche product because in the same price one can get far more powerful bikes (Karizma,Pulsar 200).
