Bajaj Auto Ltd recently said that the workers at the Chakan plant have stopped coming to work due to the management's refusal to allot them shares at a discounted price.
The company stated that the workers had earlier given a notice for strike 28th June. But the workers stopped attending work from the 25th itself. The workers have gone on strike because they have not been allowed to purchase Bajaj shares at a discounted price of Rs 1, with a maximum of 500 shares.

The strike has continued into the second day, with workers demanding wage revision as well. The Chakan plant has 925 permanent workers and 1000 temporary workers. The temporary workers are seeking to be made permanent.
The workers have said that the management has not yet invited the union for talks. Vishwa Kalyan Kamgar Sanghatana is representing the workers of the plant.
