Suzuki Gixxer SF Bookings Open For Rs. 5000/-, Arrives At Dealerships

Suzuki India has commenced bookings for the Gixxer SF for Rs. 5000/- and the motorcycle has started arriving at dealerships across India. The launch is set for 7th April.

        image: http://www.motorbeam.com/wp-content/...ealerships.jpg
The Gixxer SF has already started arriving at Suzuki dealerships

Suzuki has been able to finally woo the Indian public with the Gixxer. To take matters further, the full-faired Gixxer SF is due for a launch on 7th April 2015 and Suzuki will try to eat into its rivals’ sales by pricing the motorcycle very competitively. It has been spied time and again and everyone is now keenly waiting to see the competition hotting up in the segment with the Pulsar RS 200 also due for a launch shortly. Suzuki has started accepting bookings for the much anticipated motorcycle for Rs. 5000/-. The Gixxer SF will become the most affordable entry level fully-faired motorcycle in India and let us now turn towards its technical specifications.
Starting off with the bike’s design, chassis and suspension, the Gixxer SF has a full-fairing that is bolted on the Gixxer street-fighter which mainly distinguishes the two from each other visually. The rear view mirrors have found their way onto the fairing and the front indicators have also moved a little down. The exhaust cowl has been redesigned and has a brushed-aluminium finish while all the other design elements are similar to the Gixxer.
The Gixxer SF has the same chassis on the bike it is based on, having 43 mm telescopic front suspension while the rear suspension gets a 7-way adjustable mono-suspension. The rear wheel skips on a disc brake while the front does get a hydraulic one. The front and rear tyres measure 100/80/17 and 140/60R/17 respectively and both are tubeless. The Gixxer SF should be around 2050 mm long, 785 mm wide and 1030 mm tall (same as the Gixxer, but its height may change a bit) and is expected to weigh around 143-148 kgs due to the added fairing.
Similar to the chassis, the same 154.9cc air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine producing 14.6 PS at 8000 RPM and 14 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM which powers the Gixxer is also found on the Gixxer SF. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission delivering good mileage thanks to Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) technology. After having already started arriving at dealerships across India, the motorcycle is expected to be competitively priced close to Rs. 88,000/- (ex-showroom) and will definitely cause many sleepless night to rivals like the Yamaha Fazer.

Front fairing is heavily inspired from the GSX-R models

Instrument cluster has been carried over from the Gixxer

        image: http://www.motorbeam.com/wp-content/...SF-Exhaust.jpg
Exhaust sees a few changes and loses the chrome bits

Racing strips look good on the fairing

Looks great for 1500CC with that big logo but they could have made the exhaust simpler, the dual hole one looks yuck.

I don't find it attractive.. the naked sibling is a class apart.. the fairing doesn't sit comfortably over the tank.. it looks like it is an after sales mod job..

is it still Air Cooled or does it have an Oil cooler now??

I feel they should give an oil cooler for appropriate cooling and at the same time they should also extract 0.5-1bhp more for added weight.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF will be offered in a special MotoGP edition which would sport some visual changes to the bike. It will be launched on 7th April 2015.
                  image: http://www.motorbeam.com/wp-content/...GP-Edition.jpg
Suzuki will offer MotoGP special edition for the Gixxer SF from the start

A few days ago, we had leaked the brochure of the upcoming Suzuki Gixxer SF (Introducing Level:Pro) which is a full faired bike based on the Gixxer. Now, we have managed to get clear images of the brochure which helps us see the specifications clearly. One interesting aspect seen is that the bike will be offered in a special paint scheme from the word go and is likely to be priced above the normal variants. Suzuki wants to cash in on the popularity of MotoGP and grab the attention of enthusiasts.
While the Gixxer SF remains almost identical to the Gixxer on which it is based, it weighs 4 kgs more than it which is due to the addition of the fairing, However, the weight increase seems negligible considering the Pulsar RS 200 weighs 20 kgs more than the Pulsar 200 NS on which it is based on! This would ensure minimal difference in terms of performance and the top speed might be higher due to the addition of an aerodynamic fairing. The bike sports some interesting elements such as LED tail lamps, adjustable rear mono-shock suspension and an exhaust which looks really different.
Power comes from the same 154.9cc, single-cylinder engine which generates 14.8 PS and 14 Nm, matched to a 5-speed gearbox. Performance should be identical to the street-fighter version and the sharing of parts and mechanicals will help Suzuki price the Gixxer SF more aggressively, expect an on-road price of under a lakh.
The Suzuki Gixxer SF will be the most affordable full-faired bike in India which gives it a huge advantage over its nearest competitor, the Yamaha R15 (no direct competition though). In a country where people love faired bikes and appreciate affordable machines, the Gixxer SF stands at an advantageous position. The motorcycle would be offered in three regular colours which are – Blue, White and Black, there are rim stripes too. The MotoGP edition is based on the Blue coloured bike and gets a few visual changes including Suzuki stickers on either side which runs under the tank. It will not get any mechanical changes to suit its name though.

The Gixxer SF weighs just 4 kgs more than the regular Gixxer

Gixxer SF has been launched couple of days back with an Ex showroom price of 83,889 INR., hence now it is the cheapest fully faired bike in India. And as per Zigwheels, the top speed is 131 kmph.

Overdrive and some other websites have clearly mentioned that it was due to a bit of slope and a very long straight part of that track. I am sure it will be able to cross 110kmph on v-box but not 120kmph.

                      P.S. Don't forget speedo errors

As per Overdrive, it did hit 130 kmph on a straight part without mention of any slope on the Ryuyo test track. And I guess that might be possible, as I myself could touch 125 kmph with my Fazer V1.0 on a straight road without any slope, and this one is having a little more powerful engine than Fazer. Though we have to keep in mind the speedo errors, as all these figures are speedo indicated only.
