Otherwise, the Unicorn 160 seems to match the Gixxer eye for eye in almost everything. Peak power, torque(marginally better), same weight, similar bore/stroke, comfortable rear seats included. Oh, I am going to struggle to make a decision now between these two!

Being a naked bike, Gixxer will be sporty/fun to handle compared to the Unicorn 160. No doubt about that.Originally posted by SatSon View Post

If you want a sporty bike, go ahead with Gixxer. Gixxer should have better braking with big disc compared to Unicorn 160, and big tires too. Unicorn 160 scores in FE and quick low end acceleration.Originally posted by raintree View PostBeing a naked bike, Gixxer will be sporty/fun to handle compared to the Unicorn 160. Re: Honda CB Unicorn 160 Launched at Rs 69350/-
I believe the general public goes more by looks and test ride's performance. It has fresh looks, not at all bad for a commuter.
The torque this bike claims to have, will impress the test rider (who will rev at most upto 5000 rpm on the test ride).
Anyone who argues that the power is down by 0.xx bhp compared to the competition, is not understanding that even we the Xbhpians don't redline more than 10-30% of our total ride time. For the general public, this figure is far lower, say around 1-3%, that too mostly in the top gear on highways.
This general public will benefit both from low end torque & improved mileage.
Away from the redline, the peak power figure is a useless one... And Honda knows that, and has made an intelligent decision by this bike.
Its not a CBR 150R copy or degrade, its not a RTR 160 copy, its a true improvement to the commuting concept that original Unicorn stood for.
And I think its too early to comment on reliability, of a Honda engine specially.Last edited by Samarth 619; 12-19-2014, 04:32 PM.---

Re: Honda CB Unicorn 160 Launched at Rs 69350/-
The bike looks decent in the pics, better than the old Unicorn. One thing I noticed in the pics is, the wheels look small for the bike. Honda should have kept the 18 inch wheels.
I still can't understand the logic of launching CB Trigger when Honda had the plans of developing a 160cc Unicorn. This Unicorn 160cc is almost similar to Trigger in features except for the engine. I still see old Unicorn on Honda's website. Are they not going to take it off from the market? With new Unicorn 160cc, there is no point in buying the Trigger.HH Karizma (Current) || CBF Stunner PGM-FI || Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler

I love the Gixxer but I doubt it's touring capabilities! Poor headlights, slightly bent forward sitting posture are my main area of concern. Would appreciate all your feedbacks on this(as to whether this is manageable or will be uncomfortable etc). Every two months, I would do approximately 600 km round trips. I know these aren't exactly touring bikes but then I feel the new Unicorn with a upright stance will be better for long trips considering this.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Yes it is! I feel it is useful only for people transitioning from a bike with complete drum brakes to a bike with front only disc brakes.Originally posted by Cleaner View PostCBS=Combined Braking System?
Regular users who know how to use disc brakes wouldn't need them. Personal opinion.Owns a baby Gixxer starting Jan '15

Should I call it a 163cc ZMA...???Originally posted by ravi@17bhp View PostTo produce 17 bhp in a 160cc bike, it needs four valves, liquid cooling, and a bigger carb; CBR150 already doing that job. The torque would still be low for regular commuting. This 162.7cc motor in Unicorn has same bore as old unicorn, but the stroke is increased to 63mm. With long stroke, the initial torque should be quite strong, along with good midrange. With 135kg weight, this bike should be capable of quick and effort less 0-60 figures. The Unicorn 160 would be a strong commuter with comfort and FE. When its compared with Gixxer, apart from tire size and front disc size, rest of the specs are matched completely, though Unicorn has better torque and power marginally. This Unicorn should be an excellent family power commuter.

Headlight is same both in Gixxer and Unicorn 160. Tank capacity is same. Engines more or less similar with different state of tuning. The major differences I find between these two are the seating position, tire size, front disc size. As a tourer, I preferred slightly sporty position of ZMA than the commuter position of my Dazzler. If pillion comfort is not a problem, I would choose Gixxer for touring, for its better handling due to bigger tires, fat front forks, and bigger front disc. When it comes to FE, I guess Unicorn scores ahead of Gixxer. Its now your turn to decide.Originally posted by raintree View PostI love the Gixxer but I doubt it's touring capabilities! I can't comment on that.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostShould I call it a 163cc ZMA...???
My guess is Unicorn 160 should be quicker and stress-free till 80 kmph. Past that, it may struggle a bit. As claimed by Honda, the top speed only 106 kmph, that means, Honda concentrated on bottom and mid range. If you intend to cruise around 80 kmph, then I can say this Unicorn is a Karizma in 150cc category. Lets wait and see.

Re: Honda CB Unicorn 160 Launched at Rs 69350/-
This bike is meant for commuting and Honda has strongly concentrated on that by giving it useful torque low in the rev range and nit concentrating on top speeds n all. We can't do high speed runs on city roads.
Ride safe and have fun.

I named it like that because it is a long stroke engine with more torque than bhp which is rare in Indian bikes except RE and ZMA. In fact this is the first bike in 150cc segment with torque more than power...sigpic
