Scoop - World Exclusive Pictures of RE In-Line 750cc Testing in a Continental GT Chas

We have done it again!!! After telling the world about the existence of a sub 400cc, all new model from Royal Enfield that will deal with the passion of the more adventurer kind among us. Now, we break an even bigger news, and remember that, we broke it before anyone could even confirm its existence.

Here it is, the pictures you see below are the first ever pictures of the mythical Royal Enfield 750cc engine under testing. From the pictures it is clear that the all new Royal Enfield 750cc engine is indeed an in-line twin.

Royal Enfield 750cc Engine - What to Expect?

Expected to be powered by essentially the same engine architecture that will figure in the new 375cc powered Royal Enfield's, albeit in an inline form for the 750. The engine as we have heard is going to be the most refined and vibration-free engine Royal Enfield has ever produced, and is also going to be the most powerful modern engine too, for the legendary brand.

From the pictures, it is evident that the engine's fuel/air supply is taken care by carburettors, rather gigantic they seem, instead of the FI technology. Leaving Fuel Injection out will enable Royal Enfield to decrease production costs and thus will mean that the price of the bike which gets the engine will be a highly competitive one for such high cc motorcycle.

It has an Oil Cooler!!! - Does it mean improved Performance??

It is also evident that an oil cooler does duty this time around to make sure the engine doesn't heat up too much, and it might also mean that the engines may see a higher rpm limits than what we have seen on REs till date. Along with a comparatively smaller engine block as compared to the present crop of Royal Enfield the all new 750cc, gets single sparkplug every cylinder for the firing duties as per the pictures. This is interesting, as it would mean the long stroke low compression idea remains while the sir intake should have increased more than that of ,say, the Continental GT's 535cc engine.

It is interesting to note that the twin inline 750cc engine is compact enough to fit perfectly into a Continental GT's chassis, which would make it perfect for duties in a lot many models and not just the laid back tourers that Royal Enfield has in its current portfolio.

Royal Enfield 750cc Engine's expected Power figures!!

We believe that that 750cc Engine will arrive with power figures around 45-50bhp while it is sure to be a torque monster and we will not be surprised to see this engine producing more than 60Nm of torque.

Now we will leave you to analyse the pictures and do let us know if we have missed something!! Stay with us as we bring more in depth coverage of this BIG BIG NEWS!!!!

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT with 750cc Parallel Twin Caught Testing

      Scoop Approved.

So, we have a claimed inline twin engine which doesn't have a Royal enfield marking visible on the quite different looking engine (obviously!), and the air filter is amazingly open for Indian context, given that not only will it attract a lot of dust but also, anyone can tamper with it or take one home.
The tyres are Pirelli, but nothing special in size, compared to the torque it is expected to dish out.
And the exhaust also has the strangest tints of heat impacted color loss.

Can anyone of you identify the drum in the background or the logo it has (something like "Acid run" or something)?

I won't be surprised if it turns out to be just a mod job. I'm trying to identify the engine though... (?)

If at all, its an actual company tested prototype, RE might be looking at an inline twin for only 2 main reasons:-
Probably, its the preference of the new designer from Ducati (can't recollect his name), or it could have something to do with accommodating the engine in the chassis within least R&D costs and time consumed.

Either ways, we could be looking at a very good mod, or we could be looking into the future of RE. Let's see....

How did them folks confirm that it is a 750? Could be a 500..or a 600..?
The oil cooler tied up with a zip tie at the top & Air filters squeezed in that way ?! Noway that setup would reach production.. testing yeah maybe.
I can only spot one hose on the oil cooler.

Wow!!! This is like my imagination coming true!

Honestly ever since I have been riding the Continental I've been dreaming up to plonk a twin cylinder engine inside. Had even made up my mind to do it 3-4yrs from now! Infact I've been doing a bit of reading on what all will be required & how easy/difficult will it be, all the things involved etc. And been searching on where can I get actually buy a twin cylinder engine!!!

I feel this is more of a mod job! but if this is really RE then I have my solution in front of me. And yes I've been planning on making my enfeild Oil Cooled!!

              This just made my day

Nope, the head of the XS 650 looks completely different..

I noticed the huge carbs.. are they trying to make the bike as simple as possible to cut down the costs?? also, the bike seems to have been covered before the pics have been snapped..

If it really is RE, I don't expect it to sound super cool to my liking and vibrations might just have reduced thanks to the twin cylinder setup.. just a thought

Re: Royal Enfield Continental GT with 750cc Parallel Twin Caught Testing

Any new of RE making a twin is just another rumour and possibly 3 years too soon given their technology and their attachment to legacy models.

There are plenty of mod jobs on RE from which the above pic could have come from.

Nice to see a in line twin engine from RE looks a lot better then the engine made of stainless steal utensils in the past, Is this motorcycle RE answer to Triumph Thruxton.

Hopefully they don't price it as bonkers as a RE CTGT 535 and Please RE we do want RE branded accessories, but please can you also launch some custom motorcycle parts like HD.

PS : It looks like the part in fast and furious(Tokyo Drift), where the hero mates a Nissan skyline engine in an old ford mustang, Super cool.

This thing must me someone's project bike in some garage abroad. I don't think Royal Enfield is going to introduce this onto the market. I saw something like this in the web some time before it was a V twin Royal Enfield

Have a look at that drum in background. I am sure its a scoop pic from RE r&d center. Infact I feel CGT frame can easily handle 45-50 horses. May be they are coming up with a more powerful version of CGT like they have 2 versions(350cc and 500cc) of all their bikes except electra.

It looks like a individuals project bike for sure. No manufacturer would use conical filters on their bikes in India atleast i think. If they did, they would never squeeze them in like in the pictures posted.

Yep. Sure looks like an induvidual project. The Design of the engine fins does not look like that of RE. Pure conjecture, Someone Probably shoehorned a Chinese Twin into the RE GT chassis.

PS: on the other forum, someone had done almost the same kinda mod(250CC chinese motor in the Yam FZ rolling chassis)
What do I intend to do? Stuff ZMR drivetrain into an Ambition chassis and watch others run scared!
